Death_Dealer 3155 Posted May 25, 2013 dean "rocket" hall is i think adding the origins concept to the game which will have all of the origins concept in it so yea. dont know yet though there was a announcement about so yepUh... source please?Anyway, I'm more for taking over pre-existing builds such as small cottages in the forest. This also calls for sleeping bags and the ability to use fireplaces (has been covered in a separate thread).
JSparks (DayZ) 109 Posted May 25, 2013 To be fair, houses in the origins mod were based off suggestions on the DayZ forums.

sobieski12 835 Posted May 25, 2013 I personally hate the houses, they are literally safe rooms.* Something that should never been in DayZ. - It is epic to find bases with loot all around, there never was a base that was 100% safe.- Clans literally build villages with this concept, too bad there is nothing you can do other than sit on a hill with a high powered sniper and wait for them to get out.Unable to steal loot or destroy houses is what turned me away from origins.* But I must admit, I do enjoy killing players gathering the materials for their houses. It gives me such satisfaction destroying so much work.
Crispypiglet 29 Posted May 25, 2013 Just for the record if anyone wants a clean vanilla dayz we have just setup our private dayz vanilla server. starting loadout 1 bandage, thats all.
fosr 1 Posted May 25, 2013 Maybe..server set option, allows/close players to building houses.
Private Evans 1303 Posted May 25, 2013 If Day Z (the original) would be like Origins I defenetely would not play it ! Beside the fact the Origin team has "borrowed" so many concepts, ideas and models from other modders, it provides nearly any crappy idea that should not find its way into the SA. This of course includes those sweet Hobbit safe houses. Probably I am simply too old but I find DayZ Origins simply immature and embarrissing.. Did anyone noticed this wooden western fort with the draw bridge in their latest teaser...come on this is stuff for 12 years old kids.We defenetely will have to discuss endgame content later on, but I am sure the devs and the community will provide better and more realistc concepts than this....just my two centsPS: But maybe I am completely wrong and we will even see the survivors building cosy huts in "The Walking Dead" season 4... creature 1189 Posted May 25, 2013 Pre existing enterable buildings already on the map. Some way to "claim and lock" one. Possibly allow multiple people to occupy same building.Only 1 claim allowed per player.Z's won't spawn in a certain radius once said player is at claimed building.Players not associated with said building will cause z's to spawn.Hey, a guy can dream right? Taking over buildings would be cool too, (I say this since you mentioned walking dead, and they've took over the prison.)

Houses wouldn't be impenetrable, you could break into them, snipe through the windows, stuff like that.

Houses wouldn't be impenetrable, you could break into them, snipe through the windows, stuff like that. Not going to lie, your going to need a bigger map if they are going to allow destructible houses. * Either way, I still personally don't like the system.* I have more of a nomad type game-play style. Private Evans 1303 Posted May 28, 2013 (edited) Well on that note, and this also relates to creature's post. Taking over buildings would be cool too, (I say this since you mentioned walking dead, and they've took over the prison.)For me taking over buildings or large structures and barricade them is the only realistic solution for endgame scenarios. We have discussed tis a lot here on the forums and I think it could be done without cluttering the server too much....PS: I also don't like the underground bases idea since building undergound structures is even more difficult to do than building a hut or small house..I don't think anyone would do this in RL...except using and expanding existing basements, tunnels or bunkers... Ish (DayZ) 4 Posted May 28, 2013 Hey everyone, to be honest, house building hardly affects the lag on a server. It works with a database cloud, the only thing that it effects abit is the log in time. You easily take around 1-2m to log in but its really worth it!!You just have so much more End game than the original DayZ, you can raid Salvation (an island full of enemy npc's that drop great loot and there are loot trucks aswell!).You can visit the labs in Salbina where the zombie apocolypse apparently originiated. If your a hero, you can farm humanity by killing zombies to gain greater ranks of heroism (this sounds easy but the average Origins zombie bites abit harder!) You can build houses and garages to safely store items which is just so cool. And yes, the taviana map is much bigger, however, most people seem to have much better latency than the original chernarus map aswell. This due to the fact that Chernarus is just so much outstreched land while Taviana has an insane ammount of water filled surface aswell. If there are any more question i'll gladly answer those aswell!Kind regards,Ish
