More dense forests and their impact on gameplay

I hope I spelled that title right. Anyways I wanted to raise some awareness about the density of the forests. In the current mod you have about a 100 to 150 meter clear sight through the woods. That of course isn't realistic, looking at the pictures Matt took on his trip the forests had a lot more smaller ground cover like bushes and young trees. I would suggest a more dense forest for Chernarus+, because if we wan't to recreate the feel of a real forest we have to make the forest real first. This video shows the map Celle which has the kind of density I would like to see. Just imagine the tense feeling that around every couple of trees could be lurking a zombie or a bandit ( or Slender?), now that would be properly scary!

Before watching this video I would have thought it would not be possible due to performance issues but the game seems to run very well on his rig, even though he has post processing enabled.

Density of the forest related to season would be awesome!

You could just turn ATOC on for all trees and grass in your graphic options. It makes forests significantly thicker.

I agree thick forests would be a great addition, but it all comes down to the limitations of the game and PC's.

Rather than having all the forests thick perhaps certain regions have thick vegetation.

Not only does the forest need to be denser with a lot more young trees and bushes but also the canopy needs to be thicker so guys with helis don't find everyone's tents. The thickness would make it cool because you could be wandering through the forest then right in front of you is a hoard of likr 50+ zeds :P that would be awsome.

It would be twice as badass if it was so dense that you could make trails or find animal trails such as deer.

For what I have seen it only thickens the textures of each individual tree, not really what I was looking for

Thanks for bringing that up, I forgot to put that in. The canopy of the woods is very important indeed, not only for those pesky bandits scouting tents but for the overall quality. It feels really cheap when flying over a "forests" that is just a couple of sticks you can see right through.

This is a thing i really hoped and still hope for... yes! And maybe even more taller grass in some areas. That would look more natural and, like you said, have nice impact on the g,ame.

I am also looking forward to see forests with different densities, like Demon Groover already said: Maybe a "black forest" or "ghost forest" where you don't even see some metres far.

Damn, that would be creepy.

should be able to enforce some gfx settings server side, some people with good rigs play with poo settings to spot tents/vehicles

That isn't a solution. People would just not do that to take advantage of a clearer line of sight into the woods.

There should be thicker shrubbery in the forests instead of all trees.

Streams and creeks would be a neat addition too.
