Ohh look a player connected, and then another after that and then it verified his GUID and then Flood control activated again.

The server is obviously being bombarded with connection requests and to keep it from completely desyncing to fuck and back, it locks the server for a certain amount of time to give the server a few seconds break.

I myself have tryed to join the server and it said it was locked, tried 4 more times and it let me in.

Quit pushing the issue, you were royally owned.

Let me recap then Sean. The FoG server was getting bombarded with requests to join the server, this resulted in the server being periodically locked, which I myself experienced. Nasir feels like he has irrefutable proof that the admins locked the server so that they and their group could make a rush for the vehicles...thaaats about the jist of it.

Double tab Enter about 5 more times and I got in so I do not know what his problem is.

All in all it doesn't matter now, he already has a thread within blacklisting range and this one possible to top it off unless the logs prove otherwise.

OK, given that BEC manages the lock/unlock, and the image that was posted shows BEC performing that action, what's your problem?

There is no rule set out that BEC can only lock for 5 minutes. BEC will unlock as soon as there are no longer 5 people in the act of connecting. I believe that this includes idlers in the lobby which should kick after 300 seconds.

The piece of the BEC config that does this is below:

Note that FloodControl = 5. This means that when the count reaches 5, it locks the server. it doesn't care if the server is full or not, it just won't allow for more than 5 people to be in the process of connecting at once.

Unfortunately, when we are one of the few servers running a new update, we get absolutely inundated with connections and the FloodControl kicks in and out within seconds. In fact, after updating the server yesterday, I made mention of the fact that we were maintaining a practically solid FloodControl lock in the Host/Admin IRC chat and was informed that other people were experiencing the same thing.

Also, notice that the KickLobbyIdlers = 300 and Timeout = 300, this should prevent anyone from idling for more than 5 minutes and ensure that the server becomes unlocked within a 5 minute time period but, as soon as a new wave of users try to connect, it will Lock again.

Finally, I have the full logs to prove it! So once the DayZ staff gets their security issue figured out, I'll let one of them come on in to the server to put your concerns to rest. If one of the main server folks wants to take the time out of his day, I will even make arrangements for them to get access so that they can see our logs immediately.

And because I feel like you might like to see a small piece of the logs, I have taken a screen shot that shows a little bit of the lock behavior and attached it to this post. I think the shortest time it took it to re-lock was something like 3 seconds.

I will quickly add that BEC is supported as it makes servers a lot more stable. It's quite obvious when a server is manually locking or when BEC does it, and whoever complained (quite a boring thread, sorry), you are wrong.
