Arma 2 Dayz and Arma 3 Dayz

I have Arma 2 Dayz and i really do love it. My computer can usually run it pretty smoothly but i usually begin to have issues when theirs a lot of players in main towns such as elektro due to having a old processor. Anyway, i was wondering if the Arma 3 verison of Dayz is worth getting. Will i have a better play experience with lag ? Will i have a better experience with finding servers ? Are the servers extremely buggy and laggy?

I think Orlok might be able to help, he's been trying it out. I'd hazard a guess it's buggy as hell though. It's not official, just a port.

ofc it will be worth it. the point of it is to be a better version of the mod. and they say if you can run arma 2 dayz, you can run the standalone dayz (it isn't called arma 3 dayz it is called the standalone)

If you struggle to run the game on Arma 2, then you'll have a lot more problems with Arma 3. On Chernarus, same view distance, there is about a 10-20fps difference between arma 2 and arma 3. Most likely to do with the new lighting, physics, textures and clouds.

I get way better performance in ArmA 3 tbh, I haven't tried the zoombies mod though.

Same. I know many have had issues with optimisation ect but for me Arma 3 runs smoother than Arma 2 ever has for me.

I'm specifically talking about Chernarus. If the map runs better that Arma 2 at the same view distance on Arma 3, I'd be extremely surprised.

Chernarus also looks and runs better for me on Arma 3 than it did on Arma 3 :)

My favorite Arma mission was escape Chernarus and it's even better when played on Arma 3

Well, I don't know what to say. Everyone I've played with and talk to so far has been getting less frames on Chernarus in Arma 3. Consider yourself lucky :)

maybe the mission is just well wrote ? I'm not bashing other peoples missions but i do get smoother and faster games compared to Arma 2.

My PC is a pile if crap as well :( It's almost 5 years old and a quad-core @ 2.66 GHz with a 500ti graphics card and 4 GB ram

You could be comparing DayZ, and another mission. I'm simply talking about completely stock chernarus in Arma 2 vs Arma 3, not running DayZ, or any other mission.

No i'm referring to an Arma 2 and Arma 3 mission called Escape Chernarus :) No Dayz or any other addon needed except for Operation Arrowhead

At this point the ARMA 3 'DayZ' port is singleplayer only and the zombies, cars and a lot of other things are completely broken.

ARMA 3 is worth getting just for ARMA 3 though IMO, it's so much better than ARMA 2.

I have managed to get a multiplayer version of this running and played with a couple of friends and yes very buggy. But a nice glimpse into the future a little. I love bleeding triangles! The lighting system is awesome but as it stands right now too over saturated on light and colour for me to take for very long. Its like Chernarus with Sahara desert brightness.

SP only at this time. And on an ancient version of Dayz. I wouldnt dream of touching the multiplayer version without explicit permission.

I have much better performance with Chernarus on Arma3 aswell. With everything maxed out and higher AA game runs much smoother and there's less stuttering.

I don't understand the hype around the ArmA 3 mod. Its buggy, messed up lighting, strange zombie animations, and other reasons not to play. Also, I keep hearing horseshit from Rhinocrunch about how "this is the same thing as the standalone", and that he won't play it just because they ported the game over. I've stopped watching his videos ever since he started bitching about the extended release date and then started giving away false information about it. Its a shame, he used to be one of my favorite youtube streamers. Now he just seems like a soar douchebag to me.

Honestly I think DayZ in ArmA II was a one-off success. The mod doesn't belong in ArmA III, however I guess it's something to play until SA is released.

Personally I really enjoy just playing Chernarus on ArmA III, the shaders make the map look infinitely better, and the models just seem to look more crisp and clear.
