Revival As A Zombie

Recommended Posts

I saw that in the devblog Pax East event, a fan asked if a player could turn into a zombie after death. This player would still maintain the items that he or she wore while alive alive etc... so other players could kill the "zombie" for the loot.

After hearing this, I had this idea: maybe the player would turn into a zombie but would then lose all of the loot that the player originally had. This could create some unique situations such as: lets say two friends are hiding in a house after being hunted by zombies or players or whomever.. and one of the players dies to illness or bleeding or infection… then while the friend that is still alive is thinking over his or her next move, the dead friend could come alive again as a zombie. This would create a more intense situation for the player left alive… should he or she shoot and give away his or her position, further cornering them within the house? Even hacking the zombie down with an axe would create at least some noise and commotion. This could add a very unique aspect to the game. Maybe even in cities such as cherno or elektro, players killed by zombies could eventually increase the size of the horde within the city, creating a major problem. This could lead to alliances, though likely temporary and also risky, as we all know there are those who become famous on servers for backstabbing behavior etc... which in turn adds an extra level of excitement for those who wish to hunt down the notorious individual(s).

This whole idea, to me, would add another feature to DayZ that would add to its immersive nature and intensity.. DayZ is so fun because of all of these crazy aspects of the game that make it so nerve-wracking.

These ideas might seem to be randomly said but it only makes sense... once you think of a good idea for DayZ, you begin to realize how many situations a player could be in in which this one idea would greatly effect their experience.

The zombie aspect was sort of a placeholder because I haven't read up on DayZ lore and how the apocalypse started etc... so its the idea that should be looked at, I guess. But thanks (though I didn't understand what you meant by the last few words).

what he means it that the zombies are ALIVE (like 28 days later) not dead

so for that to work you would have to introduce vulnerability to the infection and let's face it it isn't fun for a zombie to get a lucky scratch and then you walk off and become infected. At the moment it seems you're immune so all they can do is kill you.

I just had a thought... it could conflict with the backstory of DayZ but what about an infection that completely takes over only during death (not through scratches and obviously not through the airborne strand).

(If that video was telling me that my suggestion was retarded, then I don't understand why you were that mean)

If I had a nickel for everytime this was suggested...

Seriously, do a quick search before you post. These posts take up needless space, and you'll save yourself from getting Madison'ed.
