In this Video game setting, players should and will always be the bigger threat.

Why?

Because no computer AI can match the unpredictable and random nature of a person. Matching wits with a player will always have the potential to make the game be extremely difficult.

No matter how high you raise the zombies hit points and damage output, they will always be a part of the game code. They will always have some predictable sequence that will be discovered and exploited for tactical advantage.

Well, zombies should be more of an equal threat as players. They should have a higher chance of infection(not zombie virus :P), and should do enough damage to make them a serious threat but not enough to be overpowered. I have my own personal theory as to why we are immune. Isn't it kind of strange how we can all exchange blood transfusions? Maybe we have a very rare blood type and the virus cannot attach and multiply off of our blood cells. The blood cells carry the virus to our brain, where it reproduces and takes control of our cognitive function. It then proceeds to kill only certain brain cells, leaving only the most basic functions intact(how to walk, scream, eat, drink, that kind of thing). This also makes the infected individual extremely violent, attacking any living thing within sight. But, a individual with said blood type can NOT be transmitted the virus because the virus cannot attach nor multiply off of their blood cells. Thus, they are immune to the virus. I assume that the virus was developed by the Chernarussian government under the guidance of the United States government. It was developed sometime after the South Zagorian war(play the campaign, its got a great story). It was developed at the Green Mountain radio tower, explaining the large presence of doctor/military zombies and the pile of dead bodies that I presume to be failed attempts at the virus. The viruses original intent was to be a biological weapon, but a mishap at the lab caused it to spread outside of the Green Mountain facility. The Chernarussian government is thus abandoned by its American allies and left alone to fight off the virus. After a year or so of military campaign, the military ceases to function as every solider has either died, succumbed to the infection, or deserted the military and become a survivor like us. With most, if not all of Europe and Asia also falling to the infection, the world would slowly collapse into chaos. I'm not going to imagine a scenario for the United States as I'd presume they'd have enough knowledge of the outbreak as they were the ones developing it(guiding the Chernarussian scientists), and would have closed down every airport, quarantine every city/town, and gone into hiding somewhere in the Rocky Mountain range. Thus, they abandon their own people who would eventually succumb to the infection from the fleeing refugees of Europe. Okay, let me catch my breath.

Problem right now is that zombies are such a tiny threat that you bearly need anything to deal with them. Lets face it alot of the games strengths is the whole search for better weapons. But how often do you actually need a good weapon vs Zeds? Unless its silenced it will almost always cause even more aggro then just running away. Key to surivive is to be quiet so killing zombies is something you really don't wanna do too often.

Only time you need one is when your stuck with some zeds in a building. At that time all you want is a pistol or a axe...stuff you find everywhere.

So all the other fancy weapons aren't really needed in PvE. But if a guy finds a assault rifle he want to make sure it comes to good use. So basically all military weapons becomes weapons for PVP. Which is kinda sad...it would be nice if big weapons was needed in certain areas for then PvP.

Overall i wish there was more PvE so it atleast would give people more options.

Zombies could be a larger threat. At least with regards to those firing their AKMs, DMRs and M107s in and around town with almost nothing worry about. I was killed earlier by a guy who stood by the church in cherno picking off zombies with his AKM. All one at a time. No care in the world. I so much as tap the sprint button and half a dozen come for me.
