Has anyone heard what Rocket may be doing for casual players for DayZ Game?

Recommended Posts

When I first played DayZ, I was early in my college life. Easy 101 classes that didn't take any effort to be in when high school had stuffed enough knowledge into my head to pass all of it easily. But now I'm in high level classes and for sure don't see myself being able to played DayZ standalone like a mad man. My question is this:

Have we heard anything from Rocket on this? I understand that the more you play a game the better you get, but I'm more worried about the base building portion of the game than anything. If I have a character that stays alive for a full month and plays for 6-8 hours a week and my friends do the same, a base building option shouldn't be too much out of the question. Last I heard Rocket wants base building to be like the end game in Eve (capital ships I think). So working on having a home for months doesn't bother me. I'm just saying is my experience going to be limited by the long halls?

I use to play DayZ 4 hours a day. I'm just worried I won't get to that accomplished point I would like to be.

I am in the same boat. I am away for 5-6 weeks at a time and hope that he can do something!

For the most part, DayZ is run into town, run back. If your friends play in your house/dorm/whatever and you can connect to each-other easily, run the server yourself so you can maintain vehicles and whatnot between you/allies. If you all choose the same time(s) to play, you can have interesting 2 friends v 2 friends v so on and so forth matches of hunting each other down.

I assume a lot of people are in your position (like me).

I have never had the time to play for hours on end but it shouldnt mean you cant accomplish whatever you set out to do. It just might take longer.

I doubt they are going to make it take up as much time as a clingy girlfriend, it should stay casual.

Well I doubt anyone here will last any more time in the Stand Alone than the mod, considering it will be equally, if not more challenging. I wouldn't be surprised if the average life expectancy dropped by a lot. So I guess you guys would probably just hop on a server, do the usual looting/killing, then die by the time you have to get off

is there any changes in SA what I have missed ? - is there permadeath removed and implemented Level system ?

because as Dayz is now you can play 24/7 or 10 min in a day result will be the same - back on coast line as freshspawn.

Really don't see a point of this thread - what solution wanted? I am casual player, can play only 10 hours in a day so Rocekt must give me 50% of found-able gear on spawn !? ...

I am playing Dayz like 30min in a day and i can fully gear up in 2 days on 3 day i am getting bored and starting to shoot people.

PEOPLE just for information Chernoruss is not only Elektro or Chernogorsk there is lots of other places to go and loot stuf

I completely agree with you. I was being more specific towards that end game moment. I'm worried that if a group of 50 unique users are working together on a server, they will be able to have a higher advantage in game-play than me. And rightfully so. I'm just worried that building a base underground will take too much time for a group of five guys, and that these end game structures may be catered more to the large groups within DayZ.

It's just I'm use to actually playing on a server with twenty people in my group and making the server ours or battling it out with other groups. Those have been my best moments. When I know for a fact John Doe goes to Zelenogorsk at 5:00 P.M. every Thursday to snipe people out in this specific sniping spot, and being able to trap him in it. That familiarity is something I'm most likely going to miss out on with more school work. Chances are very high that Summer of 2014 will be my true DayZ summer, not this current one. I'm just too busy.

It's mostly the worries of aging. I simply can't put the time I use to into video games, and I know how it is on DayZ when you are working 4 hours a day. You have everything in that package, enemies, friends, tents, vehicles, and some of the best experiences in video games I've ever had.

Well i found playing 1-2 hours in 2 days is even more interesting than playing nonstop 24/7 ... just from survival aspect. You know when you log in alone you are not aware of situation what is going on - you don't have friends group there and only enemies are zombies

Every people you meet on way make you ask yourself - is he a friend/enemy - what i should do kill, hide or run away ...

its way too more adrenalin you can get this way.

When you play nonstop you know everything - ok here is my 20 people friend group - here is our base/tents cars etc ... we are geared 100% of what we can get from game ... what now ?! - making FUN of Dayz like doing stupid ass things and LOLing on bugs etc ... <- this is not what I expect from Dayz standalone. I expect really HARDCORE survival game were every wrong move can be lethal and does not matter you are freshspawn or fully geared 24/7 player

They're never going to remove permadeath, leveling system is being avoided, and pretty much everything you said after that made no sense...

Its like riding a bicycle you can get back into the demongroover after being away for a bit.

This reminds me about the time I forgot how to tell the time. I was about 8 and had been able to tell the time for like 6 weeks and then suddenly POOF, my watch didnt make any sense anymore and I had to re-learn how to do it. Only took a few days though. I still wonder if I got hit on the head and took some brain damage >.>
