diddums 3760 Posted June 2, 2013 I'm a very slow adopter so this would be likely used once or twice and chucked in the drawer next to all my other "oooh, that looks cool" purchases.
JeffDetroit 717 Posted June 3, 2013 I have been enjoying my Track IR 5 with DsyZ for a while and I've found it to be a seamless experience. When DayZ is loading, and I'm waiting for the 1st-Person interaction with the Track IR to "kick in" it sort of feels like that scene in Avatar where the "soldiers" are syncing with their blue-bodied counterparts. Yes, while I could just use the keyboard for head movement, I find it very natural to simply move my head slightly to have an in-game synchronized viewpoint. Hetstaine 10852 Posted June 3, 2013 When i was using my older tir2 i did away with the cap setup and used to put a reflective silver dot in the middle of my forehead. That moment when i was at the shops and finally realised why everyone kept looking at me.
Argamore (DayZ) 110 Posted June 3, 2013 It's kind of funny (atleast to me) that some of you say like "If I have Oculus Rift, how would I watch the keyboard?" Seriously, if you aren't familiarized with the position of keys on your keyboard (especially if you have it for a long period) it's kind of sad.. What gamers are you :( Some would say "noob" here, but meh.TIR looks fun TBH.Inb4 Oculus Rift ftw..
Elias (DayZ) 57 Posted June 3, 2013 I'm using Trackir 5 with the trackclip-pro in A2 and DayZ, it works just great for me. It's just so immersive to use my head to look around in the gameworld. It's fast and responsive, and after a while I always forgetting that I'm using it. And IMO it's great for flying heli's and airplanes.Just make sure you spent some time tweaking your Trackir profile to perfection, so that it gives the most natural experience while looking around. JeffDetroit 717 Posted June 3, 2013 (edited) @Elias: There are some Track-IR profiles online that you can download to get started. And then tweak them a bit to your own degrees. I like how you can "gradually" lean, and incrementally zoom as opposed to the keyboard's Zoom all the way, look exactly left etc. I'm not sure if there is an advantage or not to the uber-gamer, but for a Noob like me, it makes things quite natural for looking around corners; while going up and down ladders; and standing up in tents (kidding).
