Strange texture bug out, causes fps loss

Recommended Posts

Hi there guys, I made an account here solely because i was encountering this issue, nobody i have talked to ingame seems to have had the problem either, hopefully someone here can help.

OK so;

Occasionally (at varying times and circumstance) the textures in my game will "bug out" as in skin textures will disappear temporarily, then return, but all messed up, as soon as this happens my fps also drops to around 5 and stays there intil i perform a "flush" or alt tab in/out of the game (refresh the screen). I have been able to go for long periods without issue, and sometimes it will happen almost immediately, it seems random and it is very much game breaking.

Before anyone asks, i have the latest drivers (i even tried with the beta drivers but the same problem occurs) for everything, i tried redownloading the dayz files, reinstalling both Arma 2 and OA, validating through steam and possibly some other stuff i am forgetting (config file edits etc).

My specs are; i5-3330 (quad core) with windows vista 32-bit and an Nvidia GT 630 graphics card.

Here are some pictures to illustrate but im not sure if they uploaded, i will re edit if they do not appear in the attachments

if it happens maybe try flushing press shift and "-" on your number pad at the same time then type in "flush"

Yeah as i mentioned that one of the only ways to get rid of it, but i want to avoid it occuring at all, as dropping to 5 fps in a gunfight or car drive and having to flush for 15 seconds is basically a death sentence.

Simple suggestion, but have you tried restarting your computer?

Yes, i have tried restarting my computer,

As to my pictures, i can't seem to upload, or even edit my original post, maybe my post count is too low.

Did you overclock your graphics card?

To me it sounds like a gpu issue, ie overheat or its been oc'd and it may be causing the problem

I had a gt 545 3gb last year and I oc'd it, it was fine for a month or two then started giving me problems, I had to restore it to factory settings

This happens to me as well but its hard to reproduce on my end. It'll normally happen if I'm on a populated server and moving across large areas of the map. A flush normally solves this for me as well. How many gigs of ram do you have?

No overclocking has been done on my graphics card, and it was purchased just over a month ago,

Sorry i missed the ram in my specs I have 8gig, but I think dayz only utilizes 4 as with most games.

Finally uploaded the pictures;

Here is what it looks like normally;

Then the bug occurs;

Then textures come back, but all messed up;

And after flushing, it goes back to normal.

Sorry, i had to double post.

Just thought i'd bump this for a bit of attention as I have no idea what is causing it, the reinstallation of all files is what i thought would fix it, but after a day and a halfs worth of downloading through steam just to get the same problem is frustrating beyond belief. :\
