Make zombies more realistic. They aren't Olympic sprinters. Closest distance between two points is a straight line. A zombie shouldn't run an obstacle course in a zig zag fashion to get to his prey. These are the only things that would stop me from buying the game should it release.

They are doing that...

Although players aren't Olympic sprinters either, if you've been running for 3 kilometers and run smack into a group of zombies, I think it should be much easier for a zombie to catch you. I also think zombies should be able to grab hold of players. Many people hate artificial stamina but it could have its place if done right.

Of all the games I've ever played, none have ever gotten the stamina system right. In pretty much all of them, the player's stamina runs out in only a few seconds of running.

OP - the zombie pathfinding and AI is being redone for Standalone. Your classic dead zombie isn't fast but your psychotic cannibal (a la 28 Days Later and DayZ) most definitely should be.

A stamina system does worry me as (as has been said) not many games get it right.

Being chased, hunted or just being in danger gives humans adrenaline. I would hope my adrenaline would keep me running rather than stopping to a crawl because i have run out of breath. It is a hard one to get right.

I don't keep up with the patch notes so I didn't know the zombie fix was in the works. And I never said players should have infinite sprint either. Zombies should overwhelm you with their sheer numbers. If you get trapped or run out of ammo you are fucked. I want zombies similar to re1 and re2. Maybe have a few of the badass ones from re3.

and zombies need a reset. currently if a zombie gets on you, you are stuck with that zombie no matter how far you run. just tested it. Picked up a zombie and ran for 7:14 til I finally said fuck it, it's broken and just let him kill me so I could reset and actually play the game besides holding "w" down and missing all the exploration and scavenging I could do. you should be able to outrun a zombie. their bodies are cold and stiff and should respond much much slower than yours.

Yeah, it would be hard to get right - but DayZ already has some stamina, such as sprinting - you can only do so for short periods. Zombies, on the other hand, can't sprint AFAIK and always run at the normal pace and have absolutely no chance of catching you by themselves. It's not a tense situation to run from them, it's merely an annoyance.

I know you have good intentions, but you aren't really in any place to say what zombies 'should' and 'shouldn't' be. Let's remember that they are still living people, infected with a virus, and more importantly, that they are fictional creatures. There is not a set of rules that must be followed.
