Built-in Dayz Community features in Standalone

Recommended Posts

We have a great community, seriously (you should some other games out there :)), but face it - we're the vocal minority. many people don't search the web for help and eventually feel alone, bored and quit.

There are threads left and right from people looking to team up, join clans, get help with a busted leg, Clans advertising and re-bumping, etc...

DayZ Standalone would benefit greatly in having built-in social tools:

  • out-of-game-chat lobbies,
  • Clan Pages/directories with links to what servers they have "settled",
  • Group finders,
  • player searching/player profiles,
  • in-game forums

I used to play a game called Tribes 2 back at the beginning of the century and it had so many in-game features for clans, groups and social communication that i still feel like it was one of the best multi-player games ever.

Decent social tools gives a huge boost to player longevity and unfortunately many game companies are getting very very cheap - leaving it to us to look for social hubs outside of game.

Thanks for listening.

as far as i am aware there is going to be better support when it hits the market. there is no need to add in in game forums etc when you can do it all through steam.. it has a web browser in the overlay. many 3rd party site and these forums already have clans set up on them asking for members. Its a really good idea i liked the way tribes did it but nowdays there is not much demand for it as most clans have a clan page already set up and play loads of other games. the best thing to try is to get a group of companies in together creating a more globalised version of what you are saying and integrating it with many games.
