DayZ, The longer you survive. The dirtier you get

Recommended Posts

Hello There.

Simple. A newspawn will look clean and cool. And after a month of survival or 4 days. You will be able to start to see ruffed up clothing. A beard and some longer hair. Maybe some blood/or a scar or two.

What do you think?

I think a few have suggested this, and i think they want to implement it in SA.

Thought some people may have.

But i REALLY hope they can add this. Can easily determine old players to new.

As long as you have the tools to clean yourself up with, no worries. It can give my character more to do.

We could have a shaved / un-shaved war adding to more potential fighting, Bearded gangs being kidnapped and shaved as punishment, there would be hell on!

Indeed we have all thought of this idea once or more.. I defs want to see this idea especially after playing red orchestra 2 which has this idea implemented...after your character reaches higher levels you become more weathered and war torn physically...

Its such a good idea for immersion/atmosphere to have char models physically affected by time/environment in game

Nice to see that everyone is in with the idea.

To get very... sort of nerdy and advanced. Clothes get dirty and muddy over time. Zombies hits,Falls,Shots could be the big cause of ripped cloths. Simply recycle the cloth I.E drop them or put them in a trash can. Put some more on. There you go.

And the razor idea above is just plain awesome.

I hope they see this idea in DayZ Sanalone.

Edited, Corrected some spelling/grammar mess ups.

Beard trophies.

Newbies are clean shaven while a 60 day old survivor will have a long scraggly beard that can be crafted into a scarf.

I think you'd be more attached to your character if you had the option to groom him, honestly.

I agree completely. Whenever there's a lot of customization involved, I do tend to become attached to a character.

In a movie The Road (a Rocket suggested it for inspiration), main character and his son are extremely happy when they could shower and shave after a long time, so I think becomming dirtier and with a long beard will probably be implemented.

A razor is a must, but it can be done by a knife, however everybody would do it like this (if they had a chance):

Really like this idea, the more character customisation the better.

I will never shave, never.

That's why I think just having custom clothing will reduce PvP (plus the fact that you'll come to think of people as individuals, and not storm-troopers.)

But dynamic customization is even better. You choose your base appearance, but things such as beards, tattoos, scars, clothing appear over time, influenced by your actions.

Having the choice to live in your own stink or keep clean works for me. Add a bar of soap to the list of loot items while we're at it.

Exactly! Just taking the time to find a pond, wash your clothes, trim your hair... It makes you feel more like you're surviving than just running around a giant deathmatch.

Agreed with that!
