That's exactly what the most successful groups are doing. The game is now skewed enough towards PVP (and away from pure survival) that players simply don't trust other players they meet in game enough to form a successful group, not very often anyways.

There's a distinct difference between killing in self defence than actively seeking players to kill.

Most people are complaining about the latter.
