The start gear is there to help fresh spawns get a start in the game with the zeds hearing returning back to old skool systems we felt players needed something to get started not to mention the trade for the backpack. But let me know soon as one of you kills another player using a pistol during the test it took a good amount of shots to kill any player. But only one to kill a zed if your a dam good shot.

Time will tell.

Our next stage is trying to do a little more for older players by moving the loot around and create new zones on well traveled paths. To change how players move around the map.

I'm actually kind of liking the idea of decayed zeds. If they had good loot, it would be cool to hunt them down. Actually, I've been really happy with almost all of the community updates lately.

Are you going to enhance humanity system? So that it's a bit easier for heroes not too lose so much humanity from killing *survivors* that attack on sight?

Im glad the backpacks have finaly been removed from fresh spawns makes no sense you would more likely have a watch when you spawn IMO. And one suggestion add bottled water as an alternate to coke and pepsi

On all the patch notes, everytime theres an adjusment to a loot table why is the link to the new loot table missing? church new ones for chopper crashes ect.

Lower spawn chance on 50 cals? wasnt it reduced by 2/3 when you changed the chopper crash drops to chopper crash loot-random milatary-milatary trash drops anyway? Are you reducing it to 1/3 then reducing it AGAIN? Or has the chopper crash loot been returned to chopper crash loot table only and THEN its reduced. Im not convinced either of the 50cals spawn at all since the last patch iv been through many chopper crashes found 100s of svd and dmr and not a single 50cal or nvg, rare should be rare not never also the svd used to be the rarest sniper and should remain so due to the easy rangefinding on it imo.

We are aware what Dean said about infected but there has been no real info about the infection at this point. Most solider class zeds are harder to kill. In the version your playing now.

Rocket also said he'd love variation in the zombies to show the different stages of the infection. What's your point?

I'm gonna comment on the stuff I like and dislike in the changelog, I know this stuff isn't 100% yet, which I why I chose to comment, hopefully my feedback can help.

Stuff I like...

* [NEW] - Removed annoying "re-arm" option from actions menu

Awesome! For those that don't understand what this means, it's that option you get anytime you look at a tent or medical box that says "re-arm at medical box". I believe it tries to pull out ammo for your main weapon, pretty much useless in DayZ.

* [NEW] - Weapon RPK_74 (Mi8 Helicrash).

My new favorite weapon! Thank you a million times over!

* [NEW] - "Sleep" at tents changed to "Rest". (WIP)

OMFG YES! I suggested sleep and defended the idea to the death, so anything done in this area makes me smile.

* [uPDATED] - Zed spawn timer from 2 minutes to 5 minutes. This should allow an area to be cleared of zeds before more spawn.

* [uPDATED] - Zed generate system. Should stop zeds spawning in view of players then being deleted.

* [uPDATED] - Zeds sight and sound chance has been re-added so there is a chance they can ignore you.

I love it, this should hopefully bring sneaking back to a couple versions ago where it was fun and random, while still being difficult. It was always so stupid to have zombies spawn behind you after you cleared an area.

Stuff I don't like...

* [NEW] - Added optional watermark for servername (server admins only).

WHY? Not more shit on my screen! Dean developed DayZ with a goal of no-HUD, this is going backwards. Not to mention the streamers will hate it for giving away the server they're on.

* [NEW] - Servers date have been locked to give full moon nights.

WTF? Why? Isn't it enough that nobody plays night servers? Isn't it enough that the server base is saturated with 24/7 daylight? Isn't it enough that people have the option to crank up their gamma and negate night all together? Honestly, when I go out of my way to find a server with people playing in the dark, I don't want it to ALWAYS be a full moon. I play in the dark, to play in the dark. This translates to me as "* [FIXED] - Cranking up gamma will always work now because the moon will always be full." What's next? Daylight turned to optional? BOO!

* [uPDATED] - Lowered Direct comms action sound.

As much as I like the idea, just remove the whole zombie aggro from direct chat. It's counter productive. You want to encourage people to use the in-game chat, not punish them for doing it. Teamspeak and other 3rd party voice software already taint the dayz community, this type of feature only further divides us.

* [NEW] - New starting gear added. ("Makarov","8Rnd_9x18_Makarov","8Rnd_9x18_Makarov","ItemBandage","ItemPainkiller","HandRoadFlare").

FUCK NO! Does it really matter to the guy with the AK if a Makarov will kill him or just make him bleed? No, he's still going to view the makarov as a threat and kill the person holding it.

To me, the whole idea of spawning without a weapon was to ingrain into the minds of the players that 'YOU CAN SURVIVE JUST FINE WITHOUT A WEAPON!' which is the truth. It was like a tutorial mode every time you died. You get to play around with the zombies and see how far you can push them before your in trouble.

I don't care how much harder the zombies hit, they're still going to be avoidable. I'm not buying this whole "Zombies are harder, you need pistol" attitude from the posters above. Unless the zombies can chase you down on the beach, knock you down and eat your brains, I don't want to start with a weapon.

"Oh but the backpack and flashlight are gone!" big fucking deal. Flashlight was useless unless you were part of the 0.5% play at night. And the backpack was pretty much useless unless you're a pack rat and have to pick up EVERYTHING you see. Fact is the bigger backpacks are so easy to find most people don't even put items in their patrol pack before it gets swapped. So yeah, can't really compare those two starting items with a pistol and magazines.

No offense was meant in any of my criticisms, I respect the hard work the dev team is doing for this mod. Keep up the good work guys! I love that I always have new stuff to criticize.

Exactly, and Dayz needs to be harder zombie-wise. So it's great you add new features like this.

Consider the makarov as compensation for the fact you literally can't do ANYTHING to defend yourself without a gun. You can't kick, punch, block, whatever. Can't pick up rocks, can't poke a zed with a stick, nothing. The makarov given to you is weak, has low ammo, and will attract others players. I think it's perfectly fine and I welcome it's nostalgic return

Server admins choice as it has always been. we just made it default it only changes the night time light nothing else. As you pointed out no one plays nights due to how dark it is. its a decision on our part to boost some of the night time play. Its not perfect but we have to think of why ppl are not playing at night.

If that's the reason behind it, add the crow bar. Or a stick, melee flashlight like WarZ, or unarmed melee/block ability.

The pistol is going to encourage people to try and score headshots on people with better weapons. There's no denying that.

I just don't think the night time problem is because of the moonlight or lack of. I think the biggest problems are the gamma being exploitable and the fear of NVG wearing bandits. The only time it becomes difficult to see with cranked up gamma is when there is little to no moonlight, so with this change it makes exploiting easier in my eyes, maybe that will increase the people playing at night. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I believe that people complained about the zeds being too hard after death because there were some bugs in terms of them aggro'ing through buildings and behind cover. I've certainly never felt that the zombies are too difficult to go navigate weaponless, in any of the patches, bugs and all. It just takes skill and intelligence.

if i'd my way you would spawn in on a quick unconscious timer, cold & shivering on the border of infection with nothing, guess we can't have it all our own way? eh? by the by any chance of screen shots of the new more decayed infected?
