bfisher 561 Posted April 16, 2013 So I was walking through the woods south of Zernogorsk this morning, on my way to the store to pick up some breakfast. My blood was pretty low. Around 5000 from a gunfight I had with a sniper in Kamarova the day before. I'm walking around, minding my own business when all of a sudden, I just silently keel over dead. Probably instakilled by a hacker I think, although it's a private hive and there are only about 7 people on. Still, it's DayZ. I manage to run back and find my body. Everything is there EXCEPT the silenced M4 HOLO I had in my Survival ACU pack. The M14 AIM is still there. All the food and gear and ammo. Even the STANAG mags for the M4.Anyhow, the whole thing seemed weird.

DemonGroover 8836 Posted April 16, 2013 Seems like someone collects M4's - probably has a huge stash somewhere.
applejaxc 2500 Posted April 16, 2013 I remember I once had bad luck, dying with 2 pretty great guns. Both times I found my bodies, all my food and gear was on me, and the guns... and none of the magazines. No one took my NVGs, bags, or anything. Just ammo. applejaxc 2500 Posted April 16, 2013 My M9SD (The first time) and my M1911 (second time) ammo was missing, too. I think there was an ammo thief.
gamerman001 182 Posted April 17, 2013 (edited) It was probably a sniper from a bandit clan that was collecting specific weapons for a group or clan. Arma 2 features a realistic sound and ballistic system. Believe it or not theres a good chance that you "Just keeled over dead" without any sound because the sniper, or yourself was located in a spot where the sound from the weapon didnt resonate. The loss of your character aside.... if that were the case... Thats one hell of a stealthy kill.On another note, I would say that a percentage of players who "fall over dead" like that probably encounter the same scenario as you possibly did. Rather than it being a hacking incident. Edited April 17, 2013 by Connor Vaughn
EliteSkittle 59 Posted April 17, 2013 Well if were going to toss out hackers and glitches. There are silent guns in the game, and like the guy above me said, if they were closer then a Kilometer with a supersonic weapon, you'd die before hearing the shot. entspeak 374 Posted April 17, 2013 (edited) Something similar happened to me once on a public server. I was walking through an opening in the trees near Gvodzno and suddenly started bleeding. I didn't hear anything and I had treeline all around me, so nobody had a clear shot from a long distance away. The first time my screen went gray, I thought it was weird. Then, a few seconds later it went gray again and I started bleeding. There was no gun sound at all, didn't hear bullets flying at me or landing near me. I figured it must've been a hacker because I'd just called out someone for being a hacker because they were bragging in side chat about how they had g36's and radios (this was well before the G36 was added to public servers), so I logged out and went to a different server. On another occasion, I was legitimately killed by the ATC tower at the NWAF and was pleasantly surprised to learn when I got all the way back to my body that they'd left my NVG's and Rangefinders - I just lost my CCO-SD. thelonewarrior 886 Posted April 17, 2013 Entspeak that's not weird at all, it does that when you get shot while de synchedIt doesn't matter about your ping and even if it says you have 0 de synch it can still be out of synch with other players I've had times where this was the case and been killed like thus
