Teenagers from Finland made me feel old

Recommended Posts

Was checking a Panthera sever yesterday. Met some nice guys from Finland. I'm late 30s age-wise and they were teenagers.

Made me feel old but they were pretty cool. One of them did shoot me dead (by accident, sort of). I even continued chatting on Steam for a while after we finished. Last message was that one of them had to go to bed for school the next day.

I usually play lone-wolf so it's not a common occurrence for me to meet nice guys in DayZ.

Must admit I feel a bit weird playing with ppl half my age. I'm not an old man dammit, I'm younger than Giggs, but really, am I too old to be playing games?

By saying 'crikey' he's revealing our age. Used to find it a lot in England. Last refuge probably the Beano lol

I'm 36. This morning I made a "hmfff" noise when I was putting my socks on, it's all downhill from here.

Really though, we're never too old for games. it's the same as a good book or film, it's all about escapism. Were one of the first gaming generations, pioneers!

oh so crikey has a history.

"Crikey" is English. Don't forget Aus (As we know it now) was basically created when we shipped all of our convicts over there.

One of the lads I was chatting to told me his dad was 37 and still owned a C64. With a working joystick....I also was not a Spectrum owner, Commodore all the way! At school with a BBC micro learning to write programmes in BASIC. And games for 1.99. Pioneers damn right!

My first Computer was a Commdore 64, then an Amiga. Ahh, those were the days.

No problem. Due to early in-breeding most Aussies are left handed and can't see the colour blue. History is fun!

I wonder, because we're the first generation of gamers, so far there's been no demand for PC gaming accessories aimed at old-people. In the future I'm gonna need a keyboard with massive WASD keys.

Maybe some special "gaming gloves" too.

The massive rubber keys on the ZX Spectrum would go down a treat.

They're actually quite tiny compared to a std keyboard. Perhaps your fingers were thinner when you were young? :)

Remember that loading sound when you put the tape in? (Yes Nousername, we had to load games with tapes and it took fekkin ages).

BRRrrrrrrrrrrr....BIP!Bererrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...BIIP! PIUGP(UGP(UGHPUI(HP{(U*GP*YWPD*U(GWTPD*GWDOIYGAUOYXGux*horrendus screaming noise.

Seriosly, look at the shit we had to put up with. This was on a 128K which was pretty advanced at the time too. No wonder DayZ excites us.

Kids, sit through this loading sequence and then you'll know why us older folk sometimes think some of you sound a tad entitled when a game has a bug or takes 30 secs too long to join a server.
