Will the standalone have more gore?

Recommended Posts

Obviously the thing that separates DayZ from other zombie games like Left 4 Dead, Dead Island, Dead Rising and so on is that it's more about the suspense of being in a huge open sandbox world with dozens of other players who may or may not want to kill you. And being derived from a military sim, I'm sure the folks at Bohemian weren't looking to show soldiers and civilians being blown, shot and hacked apart in glorious over the top bloody fashion.

That said, does Rocket plan to have zombies and players being blown, shot and hacked apart in glorious over the top bloody fashion?

I mean it doesn't need to be Dead Island or L4D, but surely he can add a bit of ragdoll physics and do a bit better than the cheesy red Kill Bill streams that shoot out of wounded players.

I dont think it needs 'more gore'. Sure, ragdoll physics and perhaps blood stains or similar, but IMO, bits and pieces flying off bodies adds nothing to the game.

obviously anything would be an improvement on the small red mark and the blood animation that currently looks like a water fountain, so i guess they will add more 'gore' to an extent, like better bullet hit animations, maybe some blood splatter, hopefully people's clothes will stain red if they are shot. that would be so cool. they could wash their clothes to get it off! would be awesome. so yes, i hope there will be more gore, and believe that there will be. nothing too extreme like arms and legs flying about though. although losing a limb and surviving could be another interesting game mechanic :P

After recently getting into The Walking Dead, I'd like to see a bit more gore. It doesn't have to be extreme, but I'd like to see some zombies walking around with missing arms and legs, and a bit more blood come out when you hit them with melee weapons.

That's what I'm thinking! It's creepy enough when you find a half dozen dead players (like why did no one take all this gear?). But it would be even better if you found it as a blood spattered pile of meat and backpacks.

Would love to see some more gore. I particularly like the idea of blood trails/bloody footprints.

In a zombie game, it does. 'Gore' is the family surname for 'Zombie' a zombie serie/movie/comic/game makes no sense without gore.

What would be really good is game specific injuries showing properly, such as bullet wounds where they were actually hit or wounds specific to being killed by a zombie. When i stumble across an abandoned car and two dead guys i like to play Mr inspector and try to work out what happened, were they ambushed, did zombies get them? Is the killer still near by? It would be cool if the bodies would give me a clue as to where they were shot and what with etc.

That would be cool in my eyes, and when you inspect the body it would be cool if it said something like His name was 'whatever' he's been dead for 1 hour' etc....cos if it said 3 minutes you'd start panicking!

How about cutting the limbs off of zombies, but they survive for a certain amount of time before they bleed out? Imagine having a zombie come after you with blood gushing out where its arm used to be.

Also, crawlers should have broken, one, or no legs, so they have to pull themselves along the ground. How creepy would that look?
