Infected

Recommended Posts

Wouldn't it be logical that in a zombie apocalypse, when you get killed by a zombie that you get infected? Your corpse would then rise again and starts roaming around. The infected corpse could drop what they are holding in their hands at that time (hatchet, rifle or handgun) because of course Z's are quite stupid, but still keep the rest of the gear on them (backpack, tools etc).

Perhaps when you get hit by a Z there could be a chance you get infected while alive and you'd slowly start twitching and have increasing time intervals of uncontrolled Zombie-like behaviour? Perhaps in it's early stages it would be curable with an epi-pen.

I'm just thinking out loud here, what do you guys think?

No, because we're immune to the infection, that's why we're survivors.

I think in the SA there will be a basckstory fleshed out via books ect. (like Skyrim).

But you get infected by zombie hits? or is that just the common flu/sickness thing.

Wait I answered my own question, I think.

Getting the flu from the zeds?

don't think so.

I've always liked the idea of dead corpse turning into zombies. But they could only rise if there head didn't get damaged.

Well then, those uber pro elektro snipers better start aiming for the head.

Maybe were only immune to the waterborne versions of the sickness?

I'm rambling again.

MY question is, "How did the Chernarussians get infected?" That would then dictate how we get infected, or if we can get infected at all. Perchance the disease is gone but the sterile hosts in the bodies of the citizens remain?

TBH, at this point nobody really knows accept Rocket and his Brother. Rocket just made a small mod and stuck some zeds in it and here we are. Luckily Rockets Brother is a virologist and has been working on the theories and disease system for the SA.

Yeah I heard about that backstory in SA, would be cool.

Since you clearly state it isn't possible due to the backstory, I've gotten quite curious what that backstory is so far? As you state in a later post that no-one really knows how Chernarrus got infected except Rocket and his brother, isn't it a bit premature for such statements?

That's the wound becoming infected. I don't think we'd be in this mess if the infection could have been cured by a simple course of antibiotics, lol.

Nope. That's what Rocket has said. The Zeds are infected (not dead) and we are part of a small percentage of humans left with an immunity to the infection. As I say, it'll hopefully get a lot more fleshed out in the SA.

As others have stated, you're immune. This is actually for realism.

In real life, if an infection that is spread only by bites pops up, it could be wiped and a quarantined fairly easily with minimum collateral damage. The only way for a virus to spread fast enough and violently enough to do any damage is that it's airborn.

So no infection when you get bit. But definitely infection and rise when you die. And the new zombie would have all the gear of the dead player. Except guns or things he was holding. that would b great.

Once again, the zombies in DayZ aren't dead people, they are people with a highly contagious virus that we (the player) are immune to so this can't happen.

Yeah the forum is quite big, and the amount of hits you get on a search query that are not related to what you're looking for is also insane. But I know now.

Thank you for explaining. I didn't know that. I'm really looking forward to exploring the whole story in SA :)
