Bumping this.

Really hope it's not going in.

Could we at least get a reason why the clearing was added?

It was added due to a ton of emails/pm's i get about this. Server admins can disable/remove/enable/add.

Back when we looked over the issues we receive and the systems we change we decided to add a clear ground area around choppers based on the feedback about loot. It can be edited at any time by the server admin.

1) Some items cannot be picked up. Like Britishpack laying on ground. Or Ammobox/weapon spawned half-in wreck. Player can see it - but no actions was appeared to pickup.

2) There was no "burned land" objects in arma - so we experiments with that.

3) One of the versions has loot radius equal to helicrash size. Players did not find any loot except "white" things by visual cos it was spreaded too far. Binocular trick was not solution for that.

4) Anyway it is "server-side" solution - so server admins can easy comment corresponding lines to prevent this effect.

P.S. - i have not much helicrashes on my server. About 6 in 24h. So it will be weird to find nothing. :P
