UK Server Looking for New Players

Hello one and all.

As the title states i play on a truly EPIC server that is looking for more players. The server i am referring to is the British Sargent's Mess Taviana server.

At current it has a 40 player limit and is hosted in the UK ( we have players from all over the world playing and ping doesnt seem to be a problem).

Just some of the AWESOME features of the server (done by the epic silverlight) and most are unique to this server (many have been copied now though)

-> General:

- Working debug monitor - press scroll lock or insert to toggle

- Zombies and loot spawn while in vehicles

- Wrecks and Care Packages spawn with loot

- Custom camp randomly spawns with any type of item/weapon

- Kill messages

- Eating and drinking from tins/cans convert into empty ones

- Smelt 4 empty tins/cans into Scrap Metal at a fire

- Smelt 4 whiskey bottles into Windscreen Glass at a fire

- Ground Fog between 1.30am and 3.30am

- Snows when overcast, foggy and not raining

-Base Building is now active.

-> Combat:

- Melee players/zeds - Press Ctrl+Spacebar or Shift+Spacebar

(This will kill zombies and knockout players letting you search them and take their primary inventory)

- Take clothing from dead players

- Czech Vest Pouch is also an explosive vest

-> Fun:

- Chill out next to a tent

- Dance and Exercise - Make a fire with wood and look at it

- Ride animals and Steer them at Farms (scroll on the AI soldier)

- Load animals into the MV-22 at farms for parachute drop

-> Vehicles:

- Remove parts from vehicles

- Vehicles spawn with random loot and weapons, high value gear in military vehicles/planes

- Auto refuel vehicles at petrol stations without leaving the driver seat

- Rig vehicles with satchels to detonate on engine ignition

- SUVs have Neon lights at night

- Flip vehicle function (ATV/Bike)

- Auto refuel vehicles at petrol stations without leaving the driver seat

-> Air Vehicles:

- HALO Jump from aircraft - Scroll mouse to open chute. Controllable freefall and parachute

So, how does one go about joining this server do i hear you ask? Well the answer is simple and i will even do it step by step for you to get you started as soon as possible.

Step One.

Download DayZ commander.

Step Two

Once it is installed, click the INSTALL option at the top. On this tab, make sure you have the latest arma 2 beta and DayZ patches. If so proceed to step 3

Step Three

On the Install tab, download the TAVIANA.COM addon/mod (Must be this one and NOT the .EU one).

Step Four

Go to the following site and apply for the white list

PLEASE NOTE!

Once registered with your IN GAME username, please post your white list app in the white list sticky. To get to it simply go forums/public DayZ forums/ Applications Dayz White list.

Now, in order to get whitelisted you will need Two things

Your IN GAME name

Your GUID.

If you are not sure how to get your GUID then that is no problem. SImply log onto any server with Battleye enabled and type the following into the chat. #beclient guid

Once this is done, your GUID will be displayed. At this point, i reccomend you take a screenshot of it (its quite long and is case sensitive).

Once you have entered both of these things to your white list request its a simple task of waiting for a BSM admin to add you to the list.

While you wait though, i STRONGLY advise you to read the rules at the following link

Also, you could log onto the BSM TS and introduce yourself to the other players that play on the server. The TS details are on the BSM site also.

UPDATE 22/04/13

Added:

- Base Building. This requires an entrenching tool and a building material to access the menu when stationary. Buildable items include: Sandbags, Wire fence, Tank traps, Scrap Metal and Wood.

- Active Combat System. You will be in combat nearly constantly (hence the solid combat icon no longer flashing). Moving, changing stance, opening gear inventory being near to zombies/players and all the default things such as shooting will put you into combat.

- DO NOT LOG OUT in combat, logs are being kept of all combat loggers, the more hits you have the sooner you'll probably get booted. Wait 30 seconds and log out properly.

- Rigging Vehicles with Satchel Charges are now persistent passed server restarts. You can rig a vehicle, log out and it will still explode. At last.

Im sorry but this is just full on crap. Admins dont care about loyal players? Sorry but whenever i have had a problem an admin is always ready and willing to help me out. As for immature? I remember YOU being more immature than anyone ive seen when typing random crap in the side channel then getting rude and abusive to me when i asked you and your friends to stop it.

Lots of servers ban people if they are on the global ban list. As for the rest, i am NOT a Sgt Admin so i wont comment on this.

I have read this list and some of the things suggested whilst being very good ideas were/are too hard or time consuming to implement. Some just weren't even possible. You state yourself about Silver being very good. Yes he is, but also remember he is but ONE man and it is not fair nor right to expect him to spend every waking moment he has spare working on scripts!

You mean like i call them dicks and T-baggers when they kill me on the PvP weekend? Its called sarcastic humor and i suggest this is something you learn. As for offensive/rude and childish, ive spoken to lots of regular players who say the same thing about you. And as for the last part..... that just shows your personality.

On a side note though. There are 2 good bandit clans on atm (EMP and M4S i think) and we are having some truly EPIC battles with them!

WOW... I'm back on the BSM forums!! I agree with the majority of what Nox says here.

This is somewhat true. I placed a thread on the forum "vouching" for Nox in attempt for his ban to be reconsidered and Sgt.Its_them proves to be very immature and an outright dick! The thread was locked after a very acceptable response from Tony Villers and Its_them decides to post an immature and uncalled for post. Why??? Because he's an admin and he can! I reported the post because I didn't think that it was fair for him to be able to post a response like that especially when it was locked. This is the response I received in a private message from him..."Dude get the fuck over it Nox is banned and that is the end of it. If you dont like it or anything I say on our forum find another server to play on." This wasn't the first time that an admin has been like this either. I'm sure if you trawl though my posts on the forum you would be able to find where it is. But it was after Its_them and his immature behaviour I could no longer be arsed to even revisit the server. So because of the actions of one admin to one loyal player several others have decided to leave the server.

Trojan, I don't think it's a question of what has been changed, but how people have been treated during the time on the server. I can say that a lot of people on the forums had made suggestions that were possibly against the capabilities of the game engine, myself included along with others like LunaWolf and Tony Villers (who doesn't even play the game) but Nox seemed to get the brunt of negative responses. Silver was commended time and time again for he skills and never once knocked for his input. I was playing a server with Nox the other day where he was telling the admins how good Silver was!Also it's also worthwhile remembering that it just wasn't Nox who suggested rewriting Taviana. Silver was also game for this and started a thread about a community custom built map to implement some of the suggestions.A shame it has come to this, because there was some decent guys on the server and some decent admin - Never had a problem with the likes of yourself Trojan and others like Crazy Legs. Always had a good crack with you guys. To all BSM members - Unfortunately, you've got to deal with the negative criticism you're to receive here and if you don't like it, (applies a sarcastic tone) go and read another forum thread. Moved on plenty, just felt it apt to warn new players against what i would class as sub-par admins.

Spiker, i have no idea who you are, other than someone who seems to be brown nosing beyond belief.

As for demanding things, no Trojan, they were ALL suggestions, nothing more, almost always met with snarky replies. Granted they weren't as good suggestions as rideable goats and parachuting cows, or neon lights on SUV's, but yeah, a lot of mine and Lunawolfs suggestions got shot down unreasonably.

Rewrite Taviana? That was Silvers idea, we just tried helping him out (and got accused of all kinds of shit on reddit for doing so)

We run a whitelisted server, a sanctuary from hackers.

If your stupid enough to get your cd key banned then convince Bohemia interactive because we are not interested in playing detective when it comes to global bans.

Since Nox had been around a while we gave him a lot more consideration than we would normally, but our decision to have a 100% ban on people whom where globally banned stud.

Nox's boyfriend above couldnt respect our decision and continued to whine on about it until he was told to stfu or piss off, after making un true allegations that we allowed other people whom are globally banned to still play on our servers.

This is BS as they are banned via IP address and to suggest it in the 1st place was a kick in the teeth (Fk u both)

A couple of weeks back Nox posts on redit how his (our) server is the dogs bollocks and how he is planning on making a new map for DayZ, the only thing thats changed since then is we didn't change our policies to suit him and he was banned.

Anyway if you guys want a no nonsense server with a community thats been around since 2001 then your more than welcome to join us, Nox knows how good we are, thats why he is still butt hurt.

I wouldn't call it a sanctuary but yes the whitelist does help prevent hackers.

Although you are either completely mistaken or in denial about your sever not being home to once globally banned players. I've told you before and I'll tell you again, my cousin received a global ban as his CD key was stolen, he had never hacked, duped etc. He reported it to both Bohemia and Battleye but they were to no avail. He was forced to buy a new key and he still managed to play on your server once his new key was activated.

Here's for your kick in the teeth... You must be aware that despite banning someone via their IP address that they can change their IP? All it can take is a reset of a modem an voila, a new IP is provided! So despite being globally banned and the receiving an admin ban, after a new key and IP address, they are back on your server.

You boldly state I couldn't accept the ban against Noxious then why was I still playing after he was initially banned and why was I playing after you made your final decision? What I did was mention a few points that I thought hadn't been covered in his ban appeal. This happens in the Waste Lands section of the forum but nobody checks them so that's why I stuck it in the DayZ threads. But full respect went to the whole, "if it's done for one player, then it will have to be done for the next". Also I wasn't told to stfu or piss off, as you put it, for making untrue allegations. It was because I had reported a post you had placed on a locked thread that I thought was uncalled for (as mentioned in my earlier post). The final decision on Nox's ban was ok with me as l could join him on any other server whenever anyway. It made no odds at all. My issue was with some of the admin and the way some issues had been dealt with by them.

As for the reddit post, where did Nox say it was "his" server?? He uses the terms, "a few of us use a server", "our servers" and "our own DayZ community". The use of "our" referring to the community which you have supposedly created for your members. The whole thing was blown out of proportion due to Tationica misinterpreting what the initial thread was about. Anyone reading the community map suggestion thread on the forum was aware of what Noxious was trying to achieve with his post. Simply trying to help and offer some form of support to Silver as he single handedly runs the scripting operation.

Also you're right people do speak highly of the server, which consists of the map and its features. This is not the issue here. The issue is with some of the people who are admining it and how they treat loyal players with total disrespect. Again I must emphasise that this is only some and not all.

Fair play to Spiker in wanting to attract people to the server to make things even more "EPIC" than he already suggests it is, but he must understand that he may not of yet encountered any of the issues above so therefore cannot really pass judgement on them (although he already has). But are his attempts in vain? As from what I hear through the ether is that the DayZ server may not run for much longer due to drop in active players. This may be just a case of Chinese whispers but it is in fact that there has been a drop in players and you at BSM are aware or there won't be talks of dropping the whitelist for PvP weekends would there?

Absolutely clueless Its_Them. The Reddit was ONLY created to help Silver. HE suggested creating a new map, i made the Reddit because he told us how much work it would be for us AS A COMMUNITY and never once stated it was my own thing. Every post i made mentioned it being "an idea from our community, which has an excellent script writer of its own" and it had the sole intention of getting help from a different perspective regarding Silver, me and the others creating a new map.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the Reddit, i didn't name it as BSM incase it got a negative response from the contributors. (it actually got helpful responses)

But instead of reading it normally, you let this Tationica guy loose, a guy who has been so nasty and victriolic in side chat that numerous people have told us on TS they refrain from speaking there because "every time we speak in sidechat, he takes the piss, regardless of what we say"

And yeah, the global ban thing is still bollocks as THERE ARE PEOPLE STILL PLAYING WHO HAVE JUST SIGNED UP WITH A DIFFERENT NAME AND GUID. We know this because we still speak to them regularly, 2 players are still on who have received a global ban due to CD key theft.

Last post on the matter anyway, you've all managed to show yourselves up perfectly. One rule for one.

I don't usually get involved in shit-throwning topics but this is stupid. Noxious, you sound like a pretty clued up chap and certainly not stupid. WHY would you click a link on youtube for an 'fps fix' when its obviously not the thing to do? trolled and hooked, cd stolen and banned [or so it was told]....not really clever. Shame too as i enjoyed having a bandit like you on the server, it made things fun.

The accusations of bad admins is bollocks too, they are looking out after their community and their players, just off this server they have made new regulars who have been invited to become part of the group.

May I remind you once again that the site clearly states any player with the prefix 'Sgt' is an admin, [bSM] are regs who have been invited to become part of the community.

Whats wrong with a little banter anyways?...gets the peeps riled up and encourages them to fight/be more cautious in what they do. I guess they could always disable the side comms.

From my understanding, the BSM dudes who run the server [as far as i know] try to keep it a fair playing ground for all aspects of player, from bambi to pro. It really doesn't matter as long as the server is having a laugh and peaple enjoy it.

Shame to see you go as well Thane, some good laughs had but i guess your choice of leaving was exactly that.

The server, in which this topic is coincidentally about, is awesome.. take no notice of the drama posts.

I have never had issues playing on the BSM server in a good 3 months with anyone, admin or players. It's lag free and fun and everything a player of DayZ would want from the experience, wether you be a lonewolf like me or a team player!

Try it! See for yourselves. It's the best DayZ server I have ever played on!

Last post from me on this whole affair. Ive quoted something you said as it has made me laugh a little bit as if you knew the truth (which im about to say) they you wouldn't have said this.

I have been playing games with BSM since January 2011 on both DayZ and Battlefield 3. Ive spoken too and had a laugh with a lot more of the BSM Sgt's than you have or do know. And ive NOT ONCE had a problem with any of them! If i had, i wouldn't be spending the time and effort responding to your posts.

You might not like this bit, but the simple fact is out of the hundreds of whit listed players, you are the only 2 complaining about the admins. I think that say's enough in my eyes.

Because when it comes to PC gaming, i'm extremely new and i'm a numb tit, trying all kinds of FPS fixes, live and learn. This is what happens when your a console gamer by default and slowly acclimatizing to the PC world...

Anyway, i've said my piece (especially regarding the ridiculous reddit debacle), the small bits of abuse were expected, good gaming with you d4nny and the rest of the lads (apriori, taldeer, cain, dexxoz, z1n0 etc) probably see some of you when Standalone comes around...

I don't roll with the above mentioned, more so hunt them on a nightly basis...lol You would know me as Sgt.xander, one of the head admins and member of BSM for somewhere around 10 years now. Never had the pleasure of getting into a fight with you or Thane but i know that your presence there did encourage other to play as a squad and try to engage you both.

After reading OP I was really interested in joining. I'm a new player, in the UK, only been playing 4 days and I was looking for a nice server to get settled in to. However, after reading on I'm now a bit skeptical, I just have the feeling that as a new player here I might be let down by a lack of interest in helping new players. I have only played on charnerus and I feel that players on this server might not have the patience for a new player who may well need quite a bit of guidance initially. I would still like to give it a go. Hope I can be proved wrong as the server sounds like it could be great fun.

After reading OP I was really interested in joining. I'm a new player, in the UK, only been playing 4 days and I was looking for a nice server to get settled in to. However, after reading on I'm now a bit skeptical, I just have the feeling that as a new player here I might be let down by a lack of interest in helping new players. Feel free to join the server and the BSM team speak. Most BSM members will help you out when new (aslong as ur not ghosting us lol)

Update 10/04

The server now has 3 non BSM clans on now which is giving some truly EPIC fights. Not to mention [bSM]Hellfish managing to Chuck Norris punch a fully kited player when himself was a totally fresh spawn!

contrary to noxiousd's aqusations, I have been a new player to this server recently (joined around one month ago) and found the admins to be more than helpfull and willing to be give new players help. The first night I joined the server the player 'SilverShot' who is an administrator of the server took an hour out to explain to me the server mods and I have so far met many a new players through there TS cahnnel which have all been awesome. Highly reccomended server.
