Starting with full inventory?

Recommended Posts

Hi,Recently got DayZ,

I thought you started with bare essentials and no weapons?

I have went into the last 3 servers fully armed with different sets if weapons?

Any idea why? or am i going onto the wrong servers?

Thanks in advance.

You joined private hives with preset load outs. Try to either find a private without these additions or public server

Thanks for the reply! I was wondering what was going on!!

Another thing,

How does it work when you log out and come back later? do you have to go onto the same server as before to keep your gear you had left when you logged out?

Sorry for the dumb questions,Still trying to get me head round everything

Private servers your character will only remain on that server.

Public servers your character/location/gear etc will persists on any other public server.

Your character and location is stored in the "hive". Public servers are connected to the public hive, so if you switch servers, you keep your character.

Private servers have either their own user-database or are connected as a small group in a hive.

If you join and there is a character in the hive you are accessing, you load that. If not, you create a new one.

I admit tough, that it is a bit difficult at the moment. Even if I filter for official servers only, I find some private servers in that list. Sometimes I have to join several servers to find one I like.

edit:

yeah sure.. short posts so you can answer first.. :-)

I should learn to write shorter :-)

It may be worth adding that some private servers are connected to their own hives, meaning you can sometimes transfer characters between servers that are owned by a certain group or hosted by the same provider.

edit: Someone already mentioned this, but hopefully it adds or clarifies to some degree.

You should download DayZ Commander - It makes it easy to tell which servers are public/private and you can 'favourite' servers so you can easily find them again.

It also allows you to easily download/install any updates to Arma II and DayZ as well as download/install any additional maps.
