fubar_in_pittsburgh 409 Posted March 23, 2013 Searched for this topic. Could not find any thread like it. Sorry to moderator if this topic does exist.So. DayZ began it's life as a mod for ARMA 2 as we all know. But what sort of mods could be born from DayZ Stand alone? I know I have a few ideas. Bikers Vs Zombies being one. What are yours? OrLoK 16186 Posted March 23, 2013 Hello thereI dont really follow you as the SA will not be modable as we know it at the moment, if that's what you mean :)RgdsLoK
Zionist Wabbit 154 Posted March 24, 2013 I do hope it'll be 'moddable'. Unless they plan to create DayZ: II it's silly not to, all it can do is extend the longevity of the Game as it inevitably begins to fall behind in terms of technology as more Games are released - ArmA: II / OA were still reasonably popular half a decade after it's release due to the heavy modifiable code and Scripts which can make you do anything from Dance to spawn a M1A1 TUSK out of thin air, DayZ then lifting the popularity nonetheless. Testwd3r235 2810 Posted March 24, 2013 Being mod-able can make a game last forever, half life 2 being a good example. Can't think of a mod because I haven't seen the base game yet :P.
Dreygar (DayZ) 178 Posted March 24, 2013 (edited) I'll pass on mods. Granted Day Z is a mod, and without it we wouldn't be able to have enjoyed the game. Leave the modding to Arma, and keep Day Z SA authentic... That's my opinion of course, but Rocket has almost always mentioned modding being opened up later in its life cycle; unfortunately. aussiestig 681 Posted March 24, 2013 There won't be any initially, but from what I remember, later down the road, they will start to integrate modding later down the road so that the game can continue on even when Rocket has finished with this version. Mos1ey 6301 Posted March 24, 2013 Being mod-able can make a game last forever, half life 2 being a good example. Can't think of a mod because I haven't seen the base game yet :P.It also makes the game incredibly easy to hack and divides the community. I'd actually really like for DayZ standalone to remain 100% vanilla so we don't end up with only 9,001 vehicle and 24/7 daylight servers again TBH.

Can't think of a mod because I haven't seen the base game yet :P.I was about to bring HL2 up! Great example. Also Left 4 Dead 2 always is a top seller on Steam and the workshop has made it even more popular.... meaning we will probably never see a Left 4 Dead 3...... aww man. BearGravy 53 Posted March 24, 2013 I made a forum about this. I would only like mods for retextures or map editing, nothing more.
Michaelvoodoo25 3120 Posted March 24, 2013 I saw a post yesterday where a guy imported the Choppers from toh, All he did was copy and paste them over into his Arma 3 and he got workable choppers (pbo files i think) Had he found the sound files the transfer would have been complete. With the similarity of engine and uses for it I wonder if before long there will be a single player offline version (Server setting aside) and / or then an out break of people working around that and making some new content and such.Keeping the lid on the code will only work for a while, however i think this is the reason for the architecture havign to be so damned tight. He said "We stopped the trucks for the meintance, not canceled the progress forever." or such for modding stuffs for S.A in his Twitter Channel .. ;) Edited March 24, 2013 by SoulHunter

aHzdaNny 49 Posted March 24, 2013 The ability to tamper with source code created DayZ but also damn near killed it. I'd rather not walk down that road again.
