Dear Reverence

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, it's 'Tom'; AKA the guy that killed Reverence and "took everything". I'll tell you my side of the story in a new post, as his was unfortunately locked.

So I add this guy on Skype after reading his post on the forums. We start to play together, and instantly I know there's something up with this guy. I don't mean to be a judge of character, but even something as simple as his voice, was I able to (correctly) determine that this guy was a jerk.

So we start playing, trying to find each other in the map after spawning quite far apart from one another. We team up, and he finds a boat. I ask him if I'm able to drive it as I've never driven a boat before. He unwillingly agrees, and off we depart. We stop off to gather fuel, and once we got back to the boat, we take fire from another person. I hop in the driver's seat as I want us to get away as quickly as possible, but the bullets are getting progressively closer to me, so I drive round the corner to keep both myself, and the boat safe. I figured when I started driving that he was in the back, but he was too slow so I wait round the corner whilst he swims to me. Fortunately not a single bullet hits him. We then travel to Cherno docks, and park the boat up.

(This is where I get annoyed) So he just dictates to me that I stay and protect the boat whilst he has fun looting Cherno. Now I don't know about you guys, but I don't really appreciate being told what to do by someone I barely know. We both agree to just park the boat somewhere secluded, and be on our way. After a little while, we spot a guy with a Hatchet. I start to follow the guy as I'm also armed with one, intending to take him out. That way we can loot in relative peace without being disturbed by an Axe to the head. My new acquaintance also follows him. To cut a long story short (no pun intended), the guy we were chasing manages to kill Reverence. The guy is then able to escape, as I back down for a moment, then simply lose sight of him.

Reverence manages to spawn in Elektro on his first try. I tell him to start heading towards Cherno, and I'll drive down the coast in-sight of him. He immediately replies along the lines of "No, I'll stay here and you come to me". This is the exact moment I knew I had to kill him out of sheer rudeness and disrespect. Whilst his comment may not seem like much, simply his tone of voice and way he worded it really pissed me off. Whilst I start driving towards him (eventually intending to kill him), he tells me that he's just stolen someone's car after shooting at them with his double-barreled shotgun. Props to him, that's a pretty badass thing to do; but that still doesn't redeem himself for acting like an ass to me. I park the boat up behind Cap Golova (it's still there if you want it, at least it was last time I checked, it's hidden quite well; though Reverence might've taken it), and he drives to meet me. I then get in the passenger seat in order to direct the UAZ over to where the boat's hidden. He then gives orders, telling me that I should drive the boat down the coast, following him whilst he takes the UAZ to get refuelled. I asked if I could drive the UAZ as I've been using the boat for ages, and he simply refuses to let me.

This is it. This is where it clicked, this is the place I will slay him where he stands. As he looks away, I slam the blade of the Axe into the back of his skull. That is the last moment we spoke. I then took the UAZ, and drove through Elektro. I meet another American guy who's in a spot of trouble. I offer him a ride, but accidentally break his leg as he moves close to the vehicle. I swerve the car sideways so we have some cover, then I proceed to bandage him up and repair his leg. I had to leave around that time, so I asked him if he needed a ride somewhere. We drove out of Elektro, but we make a U-Turn and drive through the town again as he needs to meet his friend. I offered him the UAZ as I wasn't going to be around to use it, but before he had a chance to reply, we get gunned down by Bandits. This didn't surprise me at all, when I initially drove through Elektro, I was honking my horn trying to gather everyone's attention. I wanted to die, and simply start again, but that was when I spotted the American guy in need of some help.

So yeah, Reverence; don't be a jerk to people. You instantly took leadership, and bossed me around. To top that all off, you had a harsh undertone of disrespect that nobody should put up with. I'm glad I killed you. I hope that taught you a lesson.

If anyone wants to play with me, add toml.1993 on Skype. I usually play as a Bandit, but I'm down for whatever.

Interesting, you do understand why I closed the unfortunate Topic ?

He now has the right to reply, be it on your head.

No no, I think it was probably the right thing to do. He was essentially spamming I guess, giving out my details, so I respect that you closed it.

I don't mind if he replies. Thought I'd at least give my side of the story if someone reads that and assumes I'm some asshole looking to ruin everyone's fun. Least of my intentions.

I think both of you acted immature honestly. You could've just went your separate ways, went on another server, or something else but instead you gave into the urge to kill just because of someone giving orders. I'm not saying what he was doing was right, in fact I'm saying it was wrong but you could've been the bigger person.

This was over a period of a good couple of hours. He deserved to die, he deserved to have his hard work (which essentially amounted to him gathering a couple of fuel canisters and having his legs broken by a random player) put to waste. In a world where anarchy reigns, a bullet is the only way to get your message across. I just decided to use a Hatchet instead, is all. If you've got someone pissing you off online, nobody in their right mind is going to simply 'be the bigger man'. It's kill or be killed, so I got there first. He got what was coming to him.

Ok 1 it was my boat I found it I got the fuel for it, you assume ive drove a boat before which I hadn't and you asked so I let you. 2nd I wanted the boat safe. I didn't care if you came to loot with me, who the hell said looting was fun, its annoying as hell with all the zombies and enemys. 3rd again its my boat the least you could do is come pick me up... but no you want to meet half way when you have a boat that goes 60 when i would have to walk the whole way, Then in the end i do meet you half way when i get a uaz again which is mine and you instantly want to do what you want with it even though its mine and you automatically say how you want to drive. And you know what you are by far the biggest ass hole ive played with and you know whats funny, Ive already found new people to play with that completely agree with me and understand that you cant take credit for others work.

- also if you didnt like me all you had to do was end the skype call and leave. Literally everything that was on me and in the car and boat was all mine I did the work for it the one time you came with me to do something I ended getting killed trying to save you,

To say an item is 'your' item is ridiculous. If someone kills you, like I did, are you entitled to retrieve said item? Should DayZ implement padlocks to stop petty bike thieves from stealing a bike you happened to find in-game?

The car didn't belong to you, you flat-out stole it. How do you think that guy felt when you damn well-near took his life in order to take his vehicle from him? He didn't necessarily own the vehicle, but neither did you. That's such a childish thing to say, you're not even worth the time. Have fun, I hope to meet again someday.
