where's the hive hiding?

Recommended Posts

I tried forum search but i haven't really found what i was looking for..

I'm not new to this game, but i have been offline for a few months now and today i installed arma2 + dayz on my new PC.. i tried to find my old server, but there were only 2 Official servers connected to the Hive... is it normal now, that there's nearly no official server left?

I'm fullgeared and i would like to stay like that, but because one of the two servers left is a US server with high ping to me, this means there is only one server left i could play with my gear...

Sorry, i'm not a native english speaker.

//Edit: Okaaaay... magically this solved itself as 700 other official server popped up, which did not happen the last few hours...

Looks like you answered your own question :)

If you care about your gear a lot I'd genuinely consider playing on a private hive server, there tend to be significantly less hackers and you tend not to lose your gear due to something completely outwith your control when some angry little script -kiddy decides to ruin it for everyone.

I recommend you check out the Balota Buddies servers (ones I play on) or check the private hive section of the forums, there tends to be an actual 'community' on these servers compared to the public hive at the moment.

Once you lose your gear (Which will happen, as always) you should give a private server a try.

I heard about the Balota Buddies servers some times, i think i'll give it a try as soon as i die or surviving gets too boring :D my old standard server is unreachable for me since december, so most of my stored gear and vehicles are lost anyway ;)

If you want to lose your gear, just play the game. You can't win either way.

The dirty little secret is that while there may be less hackers on private servers, the server admins can find out where your tents and vehicles are with about 3 mouse clicks.

So just try to play with someone you trust, and don't sweat it either way. Hopefully all of this will change with the stand-alone.

Yeah, have you clicked 'refresh all servers'?

Hi General, click the link in my signature, if you're interested in joining Balota Buddies. However, there are lots of servers but not many public official ones left. There are loads (literally around 7000+) so go take a look in the Private Hive Discussion Forum, as they're listed in there. I play on quite a few of them, and they're all great fun.

Yep i refreshed all servers a few times but at first there were only 2 left... don't know why, but after a bunch of dayzcommander restarts it finally worked... i'll look for a private server as soon as someone manages to kill me. ;)

Okaaay... this is a good example how fast someone with full gear can loose it. :D even without another player... i stood on the roof oh the cherno fire station and killed zeds with my SD... a little strafe to the left, and instead of standing next to the edge, i found myself just floating down the roof into death :D
