New pc, reinstall arma?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm getting a new PC. Is there any way I can deinstall Arma2+DayZ on my current computer and reinstall it using the same key without having to buy the game again? I bought it through Steam.

I found this thread where they suggest to just move the Steam folder to the new computer. But, is that actually going to work?

http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/12695/how-do-i-move-steam-games-to-a-new-computer-without-re-downloading-them I can remember from Norton/Adobe products that they somehow detect that you're trying to launch the already used cD key with a different pc.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Just install Steam on it and either reinstall the game with steam or copy your folder into the new pc and let Steam verify the data. As long as you are not running Steam on both pcs there shouldn't be a problem.

This.

I have a lot of my games on my laptop as well as my desktop. It isn't a problem.

The thing that makes Steam great is that you can install any game as many times as you want, as long as you have Steam on the computer and logged in on an account that owns the game you're trying to install. It's not like physical CDs that only allow you to install the game once. (Edit; Or several times, if you uninstall the game first.)
