Can't run the beta.

I just recently downloaded DayZ from steam and every time I try to start the beta it always says missing executable but I have no idea why it's missing something.

Help please.

Because the "DayZ mod" on Steam is just a folder with a couple files in it. It's useless on its own.

It sounds like you don't have the prerequisite games.

You need ARMA 2 and ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead to play DayZ mod. If you want the higher resolution survivor skin then I would recommend the PMC DLC, and if you want the higher resolution camo and ghillie suit then you should get the BAF DLC.

If you don't care about the graphics at all and want to save some money then you can play with ARMA 2: Free and ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead, ARMA 2: Free uses lower quality textures and sounds though.
