This is a tirade about the trials of "manual install", retail version of Arma2 and Dayz mod:

Bought the Arma2 CO dvd box for $40 NZD.

down load the arma2 updates. 1.59 to 1.60 to 1.62

And after ALL that I get refused entry to servers all over.

Oh I did get in as a F****** SEAGULL. I did a LOT of flapping.

My friend, is insisting I get SIX, (("it just works, man") he doesn't even know what an arma2 update is. has no idea what version of OA he is using and has no idea what dayz mod version he has installed.)

But he can play dayz and I am f****** seagull, man.

I want to Manually update my software and I want to be able to join a server. (too hard??)

and have found out the hard way that having the latest of ALL the updates is NOT a GOOD thing.

(server is running a lower Arma2 OA update AND/OR lower beta patch... )

Well you just have the bad luck to select a server which is hacked or in which the mission.pbo file is so altered that you spawn as a bird.

Just select a different server.

And yes. Use DayZ Commander. Set filter options for:

- Wrong version of the game

- Wrong version of the mod

Now refresh server list en join one of the servers of which de description is to your liking.

In the time it took to post this you could have downloaded and installed DayZCommander.

No, I never recommend 6 nor DC but I do recommend posting in the correct Forum, we will get to that later.

So, what I want you to do is disable DayZ and go join a vanilla ArmAII/CO MP server.

If you have trouble with that join a Wasteland server, if you can, the goal is to make sure that your game (vanilla) is working.

Looking at the way you have updated your game, things should be working.

Make a new folder named @dayz,,,in this folder make another named addons,,,copy the extracted 1.7.6.1 files into the addons folder in your @dayz. folder.

Now copy the @dayz into your ArmA2 folder...It should look something like this when the @dayz folder is expanded...

What I do reccomend is using SpiritedMachine's ArmaII launcher.

It keeps your ArmAII/CO folder clean and allows to load or not, mods as you wish.
