Cannot see a thing ingame

I just installed Dayz, as you can probably tell, so bare with me here. Everything seemed to work fine, that is, until I tried to play the game..

It took me awhile before I could even get into a server, and once I could, I couldn't see anything. Now, I could see my health, food bar, and hud elements. I could run, aim, and do whatever. I just cant see anything. It's like everything is black. I don't really know how to describe it. It's as if none of the objects have rendered.

As if the "bad server version" errors and the fact that half the time I get stuck trying to join servers, this whole situation is really frustrated. The only time I was able to see anything was when I joined a server and was playing as a raven. I was controlling a bird.. Maybe that's something I don't understand, but that's what happened. Any and all help appreciated.

Post your computer specs and make sure you have installed the game correctly.

You need to state whether you're using steam or not, because the set-up and troubleshooting advice will be different.

I'd suggest downloading DayZ Commander, and updating your Arma beta patch and your DayZ mod using its interface.

Does this happen whenplaying MP in Arma2 OA(or even hosting an MPevent)?

If you just bought Arma 2, did you play one round of each (Arma 2 and OA)?

Yes, I have the steam version of the game.

I have not tried playing the Arma titles, but I did launch each one.

My Arma 2's are up to date, at least for steam.

My specs are as follows:

8GB Ram

Intel Core i7 Q840 @1.87GHz

64 bit Operating System

Windows 7 Ultimate

Nvidia GeForce GTX 460m
