Goreman 9 Posted March 8, 2013 (edited) How serious do you get in DayZ?When I meet a player I usually tell them to back away. And if they run, I shoot. If someone finds me and doesn't want to team up. I have no choice but to kill them. Which can be hard for me sometimes. (I try to be as friendly as possible, which can get difficult sometimes). I can't take the chance of them following me alerting zombies and perhaps other players such as their friends. When I meet a player who is about to shoot me. I double press caps lock preparing for a fight. Yelling at them saying not to shoot. That it is a bad idea. I just try to knock them out or shoot their leg and leave them alone. A lot of the time I just kill them. S**t happens. But what about you? How serious do you get? Do tell me! Edited March 8, 2013 by Goreman
Hockeyguy 107 Posted March 8, 2013 I take this game like any other, playing it for fun. I think that if you are playing a game it should be played for fun and you should have fun playing it, I have the most fun when I am not taking things seriously but that's just me. I think everyone likes playing DayZ a different way and thats what makes the game so good.
intensity 157 Posted March 8, 2013 I myself, take it serious. To me it adds to the immersion to create a more dark atmosphere, which makes it more entertaining to me.I can be quite brutal at times due to this. If I encounter another player, and if I don't already have an objective; I tell them to kneel down, any sudden movements will result in death, to put all their gear on the floor, ask what business they are doing here, what their IGN is, and their murders/bandit kills. At that point, I take any of the gear I would consider wanting/needing, then most likely flip my lucky coin to see if I should execute them or not. Or KoS if needed. ninjan777 104 Posted March 8, 2013 I'm not very serious anymore when i'm playing and usually i just kill people i see, nothing personal really i'm just too lazy for confrontation and my thirst for blood needs to be filled regurarly.
legacyofblake 8 Posted March 8, 2013 Last night i saw a noob running into balota airstrip with a line of zed's behind me, i could have killed him but he only had a hatchet so he posed no threat to meBut i take the game seriously and get into the post apocalyptic sense and defend what's mine, i don't always KoS
hogscraper 328 Posted March 8, 2013 When I'm out and about there is nothing I take seriously. When I have some objective or other I'm all business. I treat everyone nicely if I can but definitely play by my own self imposed rules. I always help people if I can. doesn't matter if a hero needs a pickup, someone needs a bloodbag or a bandit needs help with a kill. I'm a nuetral merc who's loyalty goes 100% with whoever asks for it first.I never make permanent allegiances with groups but there are some people I know who I will always go out of my way to help when needed.I don't shoot on sight unless someone is hiding with a sniper rifle or is pointing their gun in my direction.Other than that I throw .50 cals on the ground and mark the map where ever I left a vehicle or heli when I log out. Its more fun for me exploring and looking for new stuff than it is worrying about crap I can't carry.Oh yea, and I'm 100% successful so far in killing every single person who has ever tried to hold me up. Sometimes a satchel charge or nade takes us both out but I will not be bullied or robbed in this game. I'd much rather roll my own dice and hope for a closer spawn than leave it to the whims of some jackass with nothing better to do.
kingkrabbe.#bof 35 Posted March 8, 2013 I take the game very serious . That means I stay in the bushes and just loot places which aren't crowded (after the freshspawn gearup in elektro/cherno/balota) and when I see players I see them usually first. Then I stay hidden and observe, let them pass, or run away. The only players I would shoot or rob would be players who try to attack me or who shot/attacked other players. But also then I would probably prefer to back away or stay out of it.I just want to survive and would do everything to achieve that. After all, it's a survival sandbox. My only kill so far which was not in self defence was on Namalsk and I was kind of starving. My victim didn't have anything to eat too... karma! =)

Dancing.Russian.Man 1631 Posted March 8, 2013 You can't really take the game seriously as it currently stands. (The mod.)Not unless you have a group of at least 2 other people or are on a whitelisted server with a good community. (Looking at you, Balota Buddies.) timboski 618 Posted March 8, 2013 Not very serious at all. I think if there was ever a zombie apocalypse I would be a bit like Shaun or Ed from SOTD.
Death_Dealer 3155 Posted March 8, 2013 I play for fun and tend to mess around a lot. Obviously that sometimes gets me in pretty terrible situations but for the most part I enjoy being relaxed while playing. When it comes to players, I try my best to avoid contact with them. I only shoot at them if they shoot at me.
Oath3 38 Posted March 8, 2013 It all depends what I'm doing at the time. I try to treat everyone fair because it's a lot better to have friends after you help people then it is to kill everyone :P You're most likely to get help later on if you help people you see. kingkrabbe.#bof 35 Posted March 8, 2013 How do you robb or hold up a player, i don't think i would get hold up or robbedNever tried it, never had to. But how would I do it: probably try to shoot the legs or knockout the opponent and when sucessfull with that, shoot again to kill (too afraid they wake up while I loot them) or run away. =)I think getting people to lay down their weapons and stuff like that is too risky for me (alone) cuz they might have backup somewhere. So I wouldn't try that. But like I said, I avoid contact/shootouts.

intensity 157 Posted March 8, 2013 How do you robb or hold up a player, i don't think i would get hold up or robbedTell them through direct chat to look away from you, drop all their gear, take the guns and shit, make sure they understand not to turn until told so. Shoot if they don't listen. That's about it.

Cap'n (DayZ) 1827 Posted March 8, 2013 I'm pretty serious about this myself. Sometimes I like to goof off and have some lighthearted fun, but thats not very often. I play on a hive where me and three other guys are the only people not in a clan. I've met all of them, and we've agreed not to kill each other and work together if need be. You see, both of the two clans on my server KoS everyone regardless of where they side. So I have to be extra alert, because theres a good eighty percent chance that the guy I run into is going to paint a mosiac with my brain matter. So, I enjoy this game but take it seriously at the same time. I enjoy it for the intensity it provides and the tactical thinking that is needed to survive. I'll go with your false statement and take it as a compliment. Not to mention, using the term "bambi" makes you look more new to the game than I.
