Hetstaine 10852 Posted March 7, 2013 (edited) I think there has to be a trade off between what is realistic and what should be put in a game.If you want bullet damage to be ultra realistic then pretty much any bullet wound would be the end in a scenario where there are no doctors and you are scraping around in the mud. I am not too sure people would play a game this extreme.I do hope the effects of damage are better in SA and i think limping, broken arms, legs, ribs etc are going to be a feature some day. Not to mention diseases.I dont want the game to be too ultra realistic - i mean if you dropped me in a warzone with a gun IRL i doubt i would last 2 minutes. if we teamed up i betcha we could push the 2 minute 30 second barrier. ActionManZlt 160 Posted March 7, 2013 No.To which one? The game isn't hardcore enough, or you don't want 1-hit-kills from every gun?
...Viper... 7 Posted March 7, 2013 To the OP. Just go outside, in the woods. That's hardcore realism. They already added toilet paper... . If the devs fixed the zombies and other bugs, instead of adding toilet paper and razor blades the mod would be 100% better.
Death_Dealer 3155 Posted March 7, 2013 (edited) ^ This.Go outside in the forest and try living on your own, then come back and tell us if it was enjoyable or not.Point is, too much realism in a game can ruin it, as it can be extremely frustrating. I'm not against adding morerealistic mechanics into the standalone, but this idea is a bit too extreme. Edited March 7, 2013 by Willy Wonka
Django-x 9 Posted March 7, 2013 Regardless of the realistic approach this mod has, there still has to be a balance of realism and enjoyment. Yeah sure if I got shot in the chest a few times and was able to run off and bandage myself it wouldn't be too realistic, but I'd rather a limit on how realistic this simulation is, then to spend half my time in the hospital waiting for doctors to patch me up, whom of which are all dead because this is the zombie apocalypse after all. To continue this theme of extreme realism, I might as well not spawn again and spend the rest of my time watching my character dead on the floor of the hospital with no doctors. Zul (DayZ) 79 Posted March 7, 2013 Getting shot generally requires one to go to the hospital or being attended by a medical professional, even if you have medical training of your own.You can't just shrug it off for a little bit, maybe take some morphine, and then go eat a cow. It doesn't work like that. Also, how come you can take entire clips from any handgun point blank and still be alive? Not only alive, but still conscious and mostly unfazed.Go to bed... Because adding too much realism can ruin the fun. IMO

Target Practice (DayZ) 1335 Posted March 7, 2013 There's a middle ground here. The current system perhaps trivialises bullet wounds somewhat (bandage, done.), but a fully realistic simulation wouldn't be fun. Bullet wounds should be a serious problem that needs attention, but they shouldn't be automatic death sentences for anyone who doesn't carry a whole hospital's worth of medical supplies on their person. I'm not against adding morerealistic mechanics into the standalone, but this idea is a bit too extreme.Living in the forrest on your own is easy. seriously. I used to do that for a career. it's enjoyable sure. fresh food. water. nice landscape. pretending to be John Rambo. I'd like more realistic damage from guns, and I think that you should have to make a camp at night and when it rains otherwise you will get hypothermia and die. and since there's snakes in Arma3 they should add snake bites into the mix.and boars should attack you too,. and I'd like to see realistic wind... so snipers have to adjust for windage and humidity, lets see... we should make the survival knife usable as a weapon too.. cinder 5 Posted March 7, 2013 A game that claims to be realistic and present an 'authentic' experience.GG, bro.Are you trolling? A video game is by principle not realistic. Reality is not fair. E.G. you only get 1 life.
jk_scowling 44 Posted March 7, 2013 Bro, totally agree. And there's no breathing or Alzheimer's disease either. Not to mention there's reincarnation bullshit that is totally not real because your soul appears in the body of some fully grown beach goer. And no smells? C'mon, that's an entire one of the six senses and utterly excluded from this "authentic experience". Who do I contact to get my money back?Yep we should definitely have a permadeath system that invalidates your cd key, deletes the game and formats your hard drive just to be sure, would be truly hardcore and realistic then. mick17 93 Posted March 7, 2013 From what the inventory sounds like they could make ahealth evaluation window out of it with maybe status of limbs, head, etc... they said everything is 3d and drag and drop. Maybe you could do more complex medical treatments in that screen or something.
