Is it worth buying DayZ?

Hi, I've been watching a lot of dayz on youtube, i heard theres going to be a 'new' version. Is it worth it to buy the current dayz or should I wait, if so, how long roughly? any help appreciated!

Hello there

Arma2/oa has just been superceded by the release of the A3 alpha.

The DAYZ Stand Alone has no ETA as it stands.

But the mod is going strong with many variants.

Also A2/OA have a long history of patches and mods whilst A3 is in it's public infancy.

we cant decide for you, but if I had to choose I'd say, get a2/oa.

If money is no issue for you then I'd recommend buying Arma to play the mod but I'm biased because I love the game. If you're counting your pennies then you may want to wait for the full game although we don't have a release date yet. Read up on both and make your choice :)

Play on private hive servers with whitelist protection and decent admins, I haven't seen a hacker in I don't even know how long.

I would say yes. You can buy both games as one called Combined Operations. Shop around a bit as there are many good deals to be had ATM.

Buy arma2 oa for dayz in my opinion, then buy dayz standalone when its out too.

Dayz mod has lots of differnt maps with all different styles or graphics and gameplay and because its run by us the players it will evolve in many different directions.

Buy dayz standalone well because its the new dayz :P

Buy arma 3 too :P

..Or dont listen to me :), i gonna be buying em all tho :)

ps - Dayz provides an experience of emotion and fear like no game has ever given me, Some of the best gameplay moments i have had have been whilst playing Dayz.

The DayZ standalone, is coming out this year I bet. But I don't think I't will be here till fall, winter. ( I don't want it any sooner, rocket better not rush this puppy and it dose not look like he is.)

So if you are low cash you can Download Arma 2 Free edition and buy operation arrowhead for 19.99 on steam, mabey cheaper if you search for a CD Key Site,

and you can play with that.

You could also get Arma 2: Combined Operations, for 24.99 on steam I think, and have better textures. (Arma 2 Free has low quality textures)

OR,

You could buy Arma 2: Complete Collection for 39.99 this comes with all the expansions, for DayZ this will increase the texture quality on the player models.

ARMA 2 it self is a fantastic game, and there are other great mods available as well.

Wasteland is one of them, if you just got the DayZ standalone, you would miss out on these mods as well.

Buying arma to get access to dayz will give u access to alot of content made by the players themself...compared to the prize u pay for all that content, its worth it. There are currently about 20 different dayz maps(some are different versions of dayz) to can play on...just to give u an idea

I'd recommend purchasing ARMA 2: CO on Steam and then using DayZ Commander (third-party software) to install DayZ. It makes installation of the mod and custom maps/mods of the mod, keeping up with updates and joining DayZ servers really easy. :)

Just make sure after you download ARMA 2 and ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead you load each game up to the main menu and then exit at least once before installing DayZ.

You only need CO you can download the free version of Arma II to play DayZ. Arma II OA is on sale for so cheap right now so I normally say wait but the deal is too good to pass up. .

I know my stuff about video games.

And this here, my friend, is one of the fekking best games EVER.

And it's not a game.

It's something else.

And when DayZ Standalone comes out, buy that also. this may happen in half a year or so.

It doesnt matter.

Because: until then you will have had the most awesome gaming experiences EVER.

worth every fukkin second of it.

BTW.: For Install, just download "DayZ Commander", with it you can automatically download+install dayz plus get all updates. everything just with a single click.

BTW2.: hackers aint a problem anyore. just use whitelisted servers(you have to register on the servers website to play on them) and you are good.

I would wait, but it's totally up to you, how much money you got and so on. If you feel like you can spend 14£ or w/e it cost, do it, but be ready for standalone, it will come out sooner or later.

So, If I were you, I would wait, since I can't spend money on a game, that I might not play after 2-4 months, but that depends on person to person.

Like others said, hackers aren't really a problem in DayZ as long as you stay away from the public servers.

Try joining a private hive server with active admins, preferably a whitelisted one.

The server I play on though, doesn't even have a whitelist and I cannot remember the last time I actually saw a hacker. :)

It is worth it. Provided you can afford to buy a game right now, Arma2+DayZ is as good a gaming dollar as you can spend. It is a mod and there are rough edges, but there is a good reason why this mod has been so successful. Despite bugs and hackers I still have fun playing, where as I finished XCom and deleted it.

Besides, if you plan on ever buying the full game practical experience will be what separates the wolves from the sheep come launch day.
