Geforce gtx 460-gtx660

Recommended Posts

Howdy

I played on my computer (3.2G i5, 8G ram...) with gigabayte gtx460, i was having problems with that card from very begining about a year ago, but have kinda disopeared lately.

A few days ago i was playing and lost picture, sound got stuck on last played sound and than computer restarted.

I was woried i would die ingame, i had zombies nearby, or atleast get banned for combat login.

Nothing new on gtx 460, but i got tired of such crap. I couldnt make it work again so i swiched to integrated card and went surfing online to find a new one.

So ...basicaly i got geforce gtx 660 today and hopefuly it will work for a couple years.

Now this game should work nicely on 460 but it overheated several times before.

I tried on geforce560TI and 570 at work, both overheated in about an howr on top settings so i lost picture.

Now i wonder will gtx 660 also be giving me that problems, it has 2GB of memory, 1033Ghz and 100 mm coler fans, also fans are tilted to avoid turbolence, both fans make the air flow the same way.

If anybody owns one i would apreciate if you could share your experience or your comments.

If not, tell me what graphics do you use.

Hello there

How much free room is in the case? How fast do the fans blow?

My 460's fan kicks in whenever playing "heavy" games but it's never over heated. Is your power supply powerful enough? Having so many cards overheat is odd.

I also have a 460 GTX with out any overheating problems.

Giving that you have had similar problems with the other cards I believe you should look elsewhere for the root of the problem.

Air circulation is the first thing that comes to mind.

If you have a cheap PSU with a low V and without any cut off security you are taking unnecessary risks.

I grilled a 880gt + MB because of this exact same reason.

Be careful.

Well i supose its as spacious as any normal computer, i only have one graph. card and lan card in the bottom slot, to give graph. more air.

Also i cleaned my computer regularly to get rid of dust inside it.

@ Boneboy- i keep my computer in a spacious room away, atleast 30cm away from walls or furniture from all side, isupose air shouldnt be the problem.

Hello there

Well, it does sound like there is a different underlying issue as Boneboys says. How many cards have overheated?
