kriegar69@gmail.com 8 Posted June 18, 2012 Dont get me wrong, i love night time however is it just me or does it just seem to get darker and darker, its way to much at the moment, when it gets to the stage that all you can see is black on your screen its not worth playing, and for people who only have time to play at night this is a major issue.if you could give us at least the minimal visibility then that would make the game playable at night. Thanks
Kleid 0 Posted June 18, 2012 I completely agree with this. To a degree. A lot of quick-draw response to this is "Cuz were hardcore realism!" but I would point out that if you look in the real world, the moon emits light. A lot of it sometimes, actually. I've seen it emit enough light to cast hard shadows on the ground. Though I get the whole darker is creepier and intense thing. So maybe if the moon could go through real-time phases (to some extent) to sort of switch the brightness at night depending on the day.
saz 3 Posted June 18, 2012 The moon follows the lunar cycle so it should be back in around a week. (Also the moon doesn't emit light, it reflects it from the sun :P)I think that the darkness works great. It can be quite annoying when starting a new character and it's cloudy so that the north star can't be seen and you only have a few flares (this has however been recently changed so it has become a lot easier since you get a flashlight at spawn).Normally however I can't understand how people see the night as unplayable since you should have the tools to make through it. A single bundle of chemlights should be enough to last you through the night and no, they can't be seen from a mile away. Use the red ones and it will be hard to see from more then 20 meters. Imbalanxd 59 Posted June 18, 2012 I must be some kind of DayZ pro then, since I play at night all the time.
Webley 3 Posted June 19, 2012 Whilst I love the idea of really dark nights, I do agree that it may be a bit extreme.A few things I have thought of that could help:Always have a moon. Not always full, but in various phases. This probably isn't possible/desirable as it would break the lunar cycle.Make road flares burn longer.More M203 Flares, the current ones are brilliant for lighting a massive area, but only last a few seconds. I believe there are rounds available (IRL) that burn for longer.I think the main issue is that people are reluctant to use artificial light for fear of exposing themselves. Kleid 0 Posted June 19, 2012 The moon follows the lunar cycle so it should be back in around a week. (Also the moon doesn't emit light' date=' it reflects it from the sun :P)[/quote']Lol. Touche. I'll grant you that point, sir. However, I don't think this is true for all servers. I've been on servers with no moon and servers with a moon night after night whilst checking the lunar cycles for the server location as well as the geographic location in the game and noticed no changes. It's either always moon or always no moon. But that might just be the ones I've been on.
dallas 5195 Posted June 19, 2012 The moon rises and sets like the sun. Depending on the cycle and the time of the night, it's either up or not.Problem is when nights are much brighter, the difference between people exploiting gamma and those who don't is day and night. kaffaljidhma 1 Posted June 19, 2012 fix surface lighting. That will buff the light source loot so much that it'll work out.

switch296 20 Posted June 19, 2012 It isn't impossible, you spawn with a torch and now chemlights/road flares actually have a use.Adapt and learn.
Kleid 0 Posted June 19, 2012 The moon rises and sets like the sun. Depending on the cycle and the time of the night' date=' it's either up or not.[/quote']As obvious as this is, it isn't true on all servers. As I mentioned already, I checked up the lunar cycles on those servers (which included moon rise and moon setting times, similar to the sun cycles) and whilse supposedly at the apex, no moon. Or during the low point where there should be no moon at any point during the night, there's a moon straight up. Either way, some servers are changing it to have less or no moon. It should be a bit more standardized.Problem is when nights are much brighter' date=' the difference between people exploiting gamma and those who don't is day and night.[/quote']You will always have someone exploiting something in the game. Gamma and brightness aren't things you can do much about. Even if you do turn off the option in the game, the option is still there on the majority of monitors. kriegar69@gmail.com 8 Posted June 20, 2012 to the people saying use flairs, thats about the worst thing you can do especially in the latest patch since zombies aggro from miles away even without flares.Plus its just a beakon for bandits, i dont fancy being lit up like a fucking christmas tree for bandits from miles away to come and snipe my face off
