Am i a bandit?

Recommended Posts

Hello, recently i have been playing alot of DayZ, and it has come to my attention that i have killed alot of people, i have killed 8 people in the last 3 days.

I have been called a bandit by many, but some players refer to me as a hero for helping them whilst they are unarmed.

Normally i don't ask people to put their gun down and leave their supplies, as that would result in giving them a chance to shoot me, so i KOS if i feel forced to it.

I help all the people i can, as long as i am in no danger, i am also currently leading a group of 8 people who all have the opposite morals than i do

and think that we should help everyone, even the people on side chat. The only reason they stick around me is because i have the skills to survive.

So what do you think? Am i a bandit?

A bandit is someone who often kills other players for reasons besides self-defense. Anything else isn't.

I don't think so. You're mostly like me. I'm not willing to kill you or anyone I see, but sometimes the situation forces me to do it.

Put in example what happened to me and a friend about 2 weeks ago. We knew there was a MI17 for repair in devil's castle, so we went there with our Ural full of repairing material, and as we we're only 2 (in a full server) the strategy was obvious. We both go there, you cover me from the wall, I repair the choppa, you get the Ural back to our camp and I gtfo with our new brand choppa. As fast as posible.

Needless to say, 2 weeks ago was 1.7.5.1 so zombies we're pretty MAD and was difficult to repair a heli (with all the sound and shit) whit zombies constantly chasing and attacking me. So, I was getting pretty much stressed. Anyway, things we're going great for a while until my partner made a bad movement and fell off the wall, killing himself. Realize the situation, devils castle, on a 50/50 server, with a choppa almost repaired, an Ural full of stuff, a body full of end-game stuff (RF, NVG..), plenty of zombies, and I myself ALONE. I was sick, tired and no patience left, so when I heard silenced gunshots from a m9sd... that was it. No more 'nice' player, just hide, wait for him to show, KoS him, finish the choppa, pick my friend, get back, get the ural, and GTFO. Had enough adrenaline for today.

So I KoSed one guy. So what? Im not a bandit (in fact, im a hero), just the situation was more than I could handle to add a possible betrayer or bandit or whatever.

Try going lone wolf and find out. Maybe you'd play differently if you didn't have the white knights at your side telling you to help everyone.

I agree with the lone wolf suggestion.

It's a rarity that I find a other player that plays the way I do as a team, and dragging around people who piss me off would drive me to aloha snackbar them with a satchel.

If you miss King Arthur's Knights after a while, I'm sure you can find another merry band of do-gooders in Sherwood Forrest to take their place.

Yeah, I'm going to try out the lone-wolf style gameplay when SA releases. Not gonna kill unarmed people, although I'll KoS any end-game players because by then they'll probably be out to kill everyone anyway.

i agree that i might be more effective if i cut some of my team members, but i don't just leave people behind. And when they roll with me it isnt a democracy... it's a Doctatorship ;)

You don't have to leave them behind. They'll still roll with each other most likely.

You can always set up another profile and play on it a different way from time to time.

Maybe i should just kill them all... except the ones who pull their fair share of the work

I always give people a chance. One time at NWAF, here was this guy there running be chased by zombies and he would constantly stop to shoot the zombie behind him so I said "Leave now or you will be shot". That was his only warning, but he listened and left. So i didnt have to waste my dmr ammo.
