Jacquel 16 Posted March 8, 2013 If they log out, count it as their loss for losing out on a good and exciting gaming session. Or wait on them to return as they probably will within the next ten minutes and knee cap them. That way if they log off, they will log back in with a broken leg and left to the wild. skilfuleric 4 Posted March 8, 2013 Why do that and get no loot when you can just simply....kill them and get all their loot?
Pandema 352 Posted March 9, 2013 Because for some of us, loot isn't everything.I'd prefer the possibility of getting an awesome play session with a stick up, to another dull CoD-esque deathmatch.

Smith Comma John 16 Posted March 9, 2013 (edited) Really simple. KOS.Anyone I'm not on Mumble with is a target. The objective is to get shit. Trying to rob someone just makes you a roleplayer. These threads do nothing but bring out the whiners that hate being killed on sight.Dude, their tears just make us stronger. Honestly I love reading their opinions because it reminds me of what it was like to be a teenager. Edited March 9, 2013 by Smith Comma John
Death_Dealer 3155 Posted March 9, 2013 Very rarely you can come across a true bandit, one who will attempt to rob you instead of just shooting on sight. Most DayZ bandits kill everything that moves without hesitation, though.
Ivanuvo (DayZ) 117 Posted March 9, 2013 I tend to kill only when I need gear or when I've been spotted. If I'm reasonably geared and I pass by someone that hasn't seen me, I won't bother.

Nowhere will it say 'and attempts to keep his victim alive.'
SteveLord 32 Posted March 9, 2013 This is just hilarious that we've resorted to referencing various definitions of "bandit" and are somehow using that to undermine other players.
Tek (DayZ) 95 Posted March 10, 2013 (edited) It's all about being a red-scarf wearing bandit who is honorable, and only robs people when he needs something, and never shoots anyone, or kills anyone, or trys to hurt anyone. He just kindly asks for the loot to be given to him so that he can go on his happy merry way. And everyone is the better for this interaction of the red-scarf wearing bandit.Bandit is just a term given to people who shoot, by people who want to all live in harmonious peace, looting, and shooting zombies when ever their fancy strikes them. The fact that "carebears" cry about being shot says a lot more about the carebears than it does about the bandits. When is ANYTHING in life just going to be given to you? In this VIDEO GAME there is no entitlement to survive. There is no entitlement to not be shot by an unknown player. Saying friendly does not mean I am not going to shoot you.People need to grow up and realize that this game is about survival in any way shape or form. The moment you click ok to join a server is the moment you consent to the rules of the game. And the only rule is to survive. If I shoot you because I didn't want to worry about you doubling back on me and shooting me in the back (even if you say you wouldn't and that you were "friendly") it means that I chose to survive by being PREEMPTIVE!It's a sandbox game, I can choose to do whatever the fuck I want. If want to roll down a hill sideways with no weapon laughing at a sniper trying to shoot me from 1.2Km away, I can CHOOSE to do so. Or I can choose to go and flank him and try to axe him some questions. My choice of survival is my choice. Not yours, you don't pay for my gaming.Arbitrary rules always fuck up games. The only rules that matter are the games rules. And if the game allows me to shoot you in the face, I can choose to do so.It's a video game for crying out loud! Shiki Nanaya 9 Posted March 10, 2013 (edited) These days i just classify them as 'douche'. Cause all "bandits" these days, like skilfuleric (hey he admited to doing this so I can use him as an example <.<), just do it to get some sort of high out of pissing off other players. Not even joking...most bandits fall under 3 categories.1) Become hackers2) Go near a major city, camp out on a hill with a DMR or any other type of sniper, and just shoot anyone they see3) Team up with other "Bandits" and just storm a place, killing anything and anyone in sight. As others pointed out, bandits back then just held you up and then if you tried to resist them they lit you up like a christmas tree. So i really don't even think the word "Bandit" works for these new types of players these days. Seeing as how we use "Hero" for those with good humanity, I don't see why they can't be called "Villians" or something along those lines. As apparently the message in Day Z is "Become a Bandit....because gaining humanity is nearly impossible these days unless you find 1 cooperative person". I don't even see why killing zombies doesn't raise humanity.Kill 30~50 and gain 100 humanity or something like that. At least then i wouldn't be so close to wearing the bandit skin, because of all the self-defence kills i've had to do. skilfuleric 4 Posted March 10, 2013 (edited) I don't try to piss other players off..I play the game the way I want to play it and if that includes killing others for no reason then so be it, I don't see why you would think I intend to piss others off I could care less about what they think and how they feel when I kill them. If you don't classify me as a bandit then I guess you can classify me as a murderer, because I will come out victorious when you try to talk to me in game and tell me your friendly. Shiki Nanaya 9 Posted March 10, 2013 I just used your name as an example for "Bandits" and too me, these days, people that play online games that tend to do the "Evil thing" do get a high out of killing others. Heck all the times i've been killed with a "You have died" screen showing up, soon afterwards I can hear the voice of some kid or semi-adult voice going "Hurr hurr that was easy" or something along those lines. So yes I tend to classify all bandits these days like that.
