Failed to start game (missing executable)

Ummm ... just a guess ... but you haven't told Steam where your Arma2 install is?

Download DayZ Commander or Play with Six and launch the game through there ... much easier IMHO.

I though running it through steam would be easier. Guess I was wrong.

revalidate the files sometimes steam likes to play about and delete the exe for games its done it a fair few times before. start steam as admin validate both arma2 and arma2 oa and then start both games up to the menus and then you can start dayz

It is ... if you have bought Arma2 through Steam. You haven't ... so you would have to manually add Arma2 to Steam ...

... the choice is yours, Tools like DayZ commander make it easier to find servers and keep the updated versions of the mode files you need. Once again, this is just my opinion and you should feel free to use whichever method you prefer.

Good Luck. :)

He doesn't have Arma2 in Steam ... he can't re-validate the files ... he never purchased it through Steam.
