Will there ever be proper bullet penetration in SA/mod?

Just like the title suggest I was wondering will there ever be a proper bullet penetration system implemented? Like so I could for example shoot through thin concrete wall with my AK and hurt someone behind it? Does Arma 2/3 engine supports that option?

I used to play CS a lot and bullet penetration meant a lot in that game. I know in Dayz there are much less walls and buildings, but nevertheless there will be some urban gunfights I assume.

Engine supports it, but since Dayz they have been fooling around with it until it was NOT realistic anymore :(

Technically you can shoot trough walls to kill someone in DayZ. But it only works half the time.

I never could shoot using regular rifles, only the high caliber guns works for this and even then barely

The problem is that they can, but they won't. The DayZ community no longer wants a realistic game. They just want something fun to play. Which is a problem.

I hope there will be bullet penetration in the Standalone. Hopefully the optimization and clearing out of code they didn't need didn't remove this feature or other similar details.

That's basically the definition of "Generalizing".

This is the first time I've (actually bothered to) read a subject about bullet penetration, maybe it hasn't been discussed enough in the forums and that's why it has yet to be fixed.

I mean shit if it's a DayZ coding bug then why wouldn't it count as something that Razor would fix?

There is bulet penetration but it is so minimal that you will never really notice any. Besides Bullet penetration just lets ass hole noobs use 3rd person to kill people hiding in buildings

...and that would be normal Gameplay. DayZ tends to be realistic, so this should be in the game.

It would although prevent some of those campers who hide in loot buildings until a lonely survivor runs in front of their scope.

How can you use 3rd person to see inside of buildings?

The third person mechanic, as much as we do use it, should be removed fully. It makes looking behind corners and to other places out of your sight way too easy. What's the point in a gunfight, when you don't have to stick your head out to see the other guy?

Then we must eliminate the ability to adjust the view degrees. Everyone must have the exact same view angles in order to keep the honest man honest. But they need to make the mirrors in the vehicles functional, cause backing up a Ural is quite the bitch from first person.

Back in my banditing days, I shot someone through the firestation door with an AS50. I was pretty proud of that. He shut the door, and just as it shut, I shot at where I thought he'd be, and what do you know, I got a kill.

Now that someone brings up this stuff, Has anyone ever tried to shoot someone in a pine tree with pellet rounds in a M1014? its impossible, the pellets literally cant penetrate the leafes of the tree

not that serious of a problem, but being able to shoot through a brick wall with an AKM like in RL would make some sense for high-powered guns

yeah, also 3rd person is not a reality issue, many people don't get that

sure, you can look above a wall without being seen, but without 3rd person you lose every sense for where your bodyparts are, also the first person headbob is terrible if you can't get 60fps at all times, makes my head hurt after 2 minutes

I don't see why you can't have fun and realism in the same game.

Also just remember guys that ArmA III has been in development for quite some time now and parts of the engine are being used for standalone, ArmA III has had plenty of time to have created more realistic features like bullet penetration (although I don't know if it actually has been added, but we'll see in the Alpha, beta and full game). Besides, if realistic bullet penetration became a problem in standalone and people were requesting for it to be fixed the development team could easily tweak it up a bit and fix things that are broken.
