Hatchet overpowered in 1.7.6.1?

Anyone else feel as though the hatchet is a bit overpowered in 1.7.6.1 now that zombies don't get the cheap hit on you when they first get within range? Now since they are required to go through the attack animation before doing damage its very easy to just slap them once with the hatchet and never get hit. I feel like the hatchet needs to have its damage reduced to a 2 hit kill or make it a ~50% chance to 1 hit kill otherwise 2 hits to kill.

I don't really see how you think that's overpowered, could you imagine that situation in a zombie apocalypse where nobody is immune?

The zombies seem to be extremely weak now .

I thought they were pretty good when they were zerging you at the drop of a pin , now they are pretty much laughable .

as far as I know the hatchet has always been a one hit zombie kill (providing you actually hit), as for players thats a different story

Wow ... Zombies too strong ... Zombies too weak ... Cans are not random enough ... Cans are too random ... Zombies can hear too far ... Zombies can't hear far enough.

The bottom line is that the mods will never be able to please everyone, that is the nature of the game. Unless they can scale the Zombie difficulty in line with the server difficulty, it is never going to make everyone happy. What I recommend is either go try one of the other mods based off DayZ, or take DayZ, learn the scripting side of Arma2 and modify the mod to your requirements.

Please note, I am not trying to disregard your argument and your opinion, it's just that a lot of people complained that the Zombies were freaking out and hitting you without doing an animation ... the developers fixed that ... and now we have found something else wrong.

I kind of base the Zombies on movies and TV shows and with the greater chance of infection now ... They are pretty much on target with these shows. They need to get close to damage you, one Zombie on its own is not normally a problem, a Hatchet can deal with them quietly and quickly, when they horde you ... you are in for a world of hurt. Running and gunning in town ... well prepare for retribution.

I personally think it is spot on. :)

I love a good ol' western hatchet stand-off with a fellow survivor.

Hatchets have always had a 1-shot kill to a zed, but actually hitting them the first time doesn't always work as planned. Plus it can sometimes be a bit risky going for a hatchet kill, since it has resulted in broken legs for me.
