Real Mountain Dew

So theres a fog rolling in over the hills,,, sucks right ?

What if we could use it to harvest fresh water that didnt need boiled. It would be a small Net square with two pegs that go into the ground. Water is collected on the net and gathered in your water bottle.

It would be nice to see a whole bunch of survival type methods put into dayz like this one.

The net shown on this link is for gathering large ammounts of water it would be scalled down in game for personal use.

That's really cool! After reading that article, I think that would be an interesting, albeit difficult to get right, addition.

it would be a farming type mechanic risk your water bottle and net collect it later when its filled. Unless you see the fog coming ofcourse.

Something along those lines its not an idea set in stone, its the small things that make a great game many small survival type skills in a game boasting about survival has to be good =o

This is a very good suggestion, it would add something that you can actually risk, but get a reward from doing it if you do it right

After I posted this idea I went straight into the game and it started to rain, and yet another idea came to me. Why not just harvest the rain water aswell. I mean any source of fresh water we can get our hands on would be great.

If you take into consideration all the players who Hate going into the city, be it FPS lose or just in general hate citys and would rather play more of a hunter/gather role then mechanics like this would be a huge bonus.

And yea im a city hater my self I prefer to stay away from the citys anything that adds surviing of the land would make this game so much beter considering we can already hunt and cook animals. Trying to scout your way to an open water source can some times be a bit frustrating if you dont have any map nor know your way around.

So adding various ways to harvest/collect alternative water sources could make our gameplay just that tiny wee bit beter.

Yea the whole idea is that you risk your Fog collecter and come back later to retrieve it, unless you happen to be in a really foggy area at the time, but ofcourse there would need to be a certain ammount of time to collect enough water. So you would be risking your fog collector and your life while waiting around for the water to be gathered.

Edit : that being said... about the rain I would not expect my water bottle to be fill after one shower of rain because that would be impossible. It would just be a small volume of water collected during each shower of rain.

well but actually fog seems to be fairly easy possible due to volumetric clouds now!

Combine this with the fact the standalone will have urination/defecation and you have some massive risks. "Aww man some bandit has taken a piss in my fog collecting thingy...or maybe it's Mountain Dew...nope it's piss".
