how old is your survivor?

Recommended Posts

so, my main hive char is this old, I know people say dont get attached but I regularly play on privite hive servers to free myself from the fear of loosing this character whilst playing on the main hive :P I play with a wildly different play style when using this char, much more stealth and self preservation when compared to sprinting across open tundra and through towns with wanton abandon on a privite hive!

how old is your main hive?

do you use privite hives as an escape from the intensity of the main hive?

screenshots would be nice...

I have just started playing on my own Private Hive, so my character is only a few days old. My Public Hive character is 17 days old (screen shot to follow as I am currently at work).

With my both characters I use stealth and subterfuge and avoid other players as much as possible. I will normally "hightail" it form a confrontation as I don't want to shoot anyone and don't want to get shot myself.

But yes, I use the Private Hive to get away from it all and discover areas that I wouldn't normally go in to on a Public Hive Server. :)

I play on a private hive, currently my character is 17 days old however if you take death by hacks out of the equation then I havent died for a couple of months.

I don't play public much, the few times I have I've been lucky enough to not find any hackers and to snipe quite a few people... A few weeks ago I was on 188 days, so I'm probably sitting on near 200.

0 days lol, got ran over by my friend. I joined the server, and spawned right in front of him while he was moving the Ural. :)

My oldest char was more than 25 until a hacker nuked the server.

I don't quite understand playing on only private hives in order to preserve your characters. For me, at least, the greatest appeal to Day Z is the constant threat of death. No matter where you are or what you're doing, you could be under constant watch. Every second of gameplay is tense. Every sound you hear could be a bandit trying to get a good position to take you out.

I understand there are reallllllllly lame people who just play rambo/cod style, but I feel like playing on a private hive full of mostly friendly players just takes the tension out of the game.

maybe I'm missing something?

oh and by the way, the current character I have is only 1 day old. I literally just started playing the game this past Saturday and after a few deaths from running straight into Cherno and a couple glitched zombies, I've learned how to survive.

By DayZ standards my oldest character would be considered a geezer by now.

you might have taken it the wrong way, and i certainly dont goto play on a private hive because everyone has hugs and kisses for me. only that i have a vested interest in my main hive char i feel playing on a private hive is like having a burner char. with my priv hive guy good gear comes and goes the highs and lows of gameplay are frequent. i prefer a more subdued existance on the main hive and am alot more carefull about my movements, game play is slower and the threat of death just that little bit more scary...

I've never lasted more than a couple of weeks public, as I haven't played regularly enough long term and my best characters have ended up back on the beach when I've returned.

The ingrained beta tester in me also needs to investigate the character cycle with new updates, to see how the experience has changed, so I've become a bit of a restart junkie.

One character lasted nearly a month in a private hive, but that one ended with the server ... and consequently the character ... disappearing for good. That's a prospect to consider before getting too comfortable on somebody else's box.

Nothing friendly about the private hive I play on tbh.

I play on a private hive because no hackers, but often the hive has over 40+ players, currently my player is 7 Days old.... That's the longest I've had it. (I started playing a month ago)
