Easter Egg Question

Recommended Posts

Can we move on (pun intended)? I feel like this will be a good segue into a more interesting conversation.

Here are my questions.

What are your favorite video game easter eggs of all time?

If it was up to you, what would you place in DayZ as an easter egg?

I like the idea (like the Green Mountain recordings) of VERY rare audio recordings that could be found that when peiced together (like a metagaming treasure hunt) formed part of a larger puzzle or lead to a reward.

Like I say, to work they would have to be uber rare. By that I mean out of all of the players only one audio clip would be found every week or two at the most, and players would have to combine knowledge on here or other websites to crack the puzzle.

That would be awesome!

there is an easter egg thread somewhere already...

Well, seems to be a great time for another one. What would you like to see?

I personally thought it would be nice to have a cabin somewhere, without loot, with a hatchet on the wall and a red barret (not lootable) on a hatstand next to the door and a can of beans on the table. (rockets cabin of course)

I also liked, using the reload-animation for the hatchet as an idle-animation, when standing still for a while, holding the hatchet.

Whatever easteregg there is, it should be nothing you stumble upon every day.

There are already some nice eastereggs in dayz, like the tomb in taviana, the santa in cherno or the tunnel inside a tunnel in namalsk.

a burned down tin can factory - as a sign and memorial ;)

edit: there you could find - in the worst condition - all of the notorious cans

Since I love the fact that Dayz allows us to make our own stories, I would want this to be extremely minimalist, but it would be cool if one in 100,000 zombies killed happened to have some kind of note on them. Something detailing their life or its coming to an end like a fragment of a journal or something. I really liked the L4D series where you could see all of these writings on the walls of the saferooms and since its very minimal, your mind gets to fill in all of the blanks instead of being walked through some lame story you don't care about.

I liked the hidden area just before facing the Cyberdaemon in Doom3. Reading through all the little notes from the Devs was a lot a fun for a long time Doom player. I also liked the Notched Pickaxe in Skyrim, and Miaq the liar, of course.

I would love to see a few Shaun of the Dead references in DayZ.

I think books, notes, diaries ect will be part of the SA so this is pretty likely. i don't think they're going to be easter eggs just thing that help immerse us in the world (like Skyrim). Some may even give clues as to the outbreak and so on.
