Fast reload vs slower reload

Recommended Posts

Since magazines are going to be separate from the actual bullets themselves in the stand alone I thought of a faster reload option of sorts maybe have the choice when you reload to either drop the mag right away or to put the mag back into your pocket/inventory that way you can choose in the heat of battle to reload faster but risk losing a mag or if you have a chance reload your weapon a little slower but guaranteed you keep the magazine

dunno, having two commands/buttons for reload, accidental pressing the wrong one in the heat of battle, loosing the extremely valuable mag for the gun - could be interesting I guess

(although I would simply remap the quick/drop reload to nothing as soon as I'd install the game...)

Hold R: slow reload

Tap R: drops the mag

Should not be too complex. Great idea

As long as the mag then drops onto the ground, so I can pick it up in case I do quick rld because of being used to just tapping R, this is perfect.

Right so once you think you are safe you can always go back and find your mags on the ground

I think that's a better option. Single tap R for normal reload, and double tap R for fast reload and dropping of the mag. That would help to minimize accidentally triggering the wrong option. If tape is lootable in the game, one of the options should be to tape mags together, a.k.a., jungle style, letting you do fast reload without dropping the mags.

Both can be an option, these kinda things are simple to implement

I do like this suggestion. Finally! Suggestions for the SA are getting more reasonable. Halleluiah!

This is a fantastic idea! it would add a bit of extra depth to the gunfights, and IMO the game should push the simulation side of things even further taking inspiration of a game like Receiver :

I like the idea of tapping mags together could be part of the "crafting" system to be implemented

If I can pick it back up I am cool with this.

well i would also suggest to implement careful and silent reloading as well as hasty and noisy reloading in contrast

Holding "R" prevents player to press "D". So it is not an option. UmBe's way is the right one.

Good idea OP.

Maybe the slower option is a little more quite?

I think that instead of having two different reloads, holding 'R' could be used for a quick ammo check, similar to Red Orchestra 2. Quickly take the mag out, check the approximate amount of bullets, and you get a notification that says 'The magazine is over half full' or 'The magazine is close to empty'.
