Some beginner ?'s. About to dl Dayz in 30 mins....

Recommended Posts

Hello all. Just purchased Arma 2 CO's and will download Dayz via steam shortly thereafter. Just have a few questions before I begin.

1) Is there a DayZ single player aspect to the game? Anyway to practice before I jump in?

2) Is the install of Dayz via Steam as easy as a "click on the install button" or is there more?

3) I dont have a headset and am going to go at it alone. Is one really necessary for solo play?

4) How can I tell who's a "bandit"?

Thx for any answers!

Lol, there is no single player its a purley rogue experience.

Bandits have turban like towels around their head kind of like a balclava

Your going to want a headset if your going to hold someone up with your gun but you really dont need a mic

and uhm For number 2 I use DayZ commander so idk about that one.

DayZ is a mod where single players, clans, friendly and hostile players are bunched together, but it's a large game world. If you want to play with or against other players, you head for the big cities and popular places, if you're looking for a singleplayer experience, you should avoid the biggest cities and airfields.

1) If you want a tutorial, use the one in ArmA 2/singleplayer/bootcamp.

2) I guess it's the point of adding DayZ mod to Steam, haven't checked it, I use DayZcommander.

3) No, but it will make it easier, if you by chance meet other players.

Keys for text chat: comma, period for changing chat channels and / or - to open the chat box.

Side channel can be read by all players on the server.

Direct channel can only be read/heard by players within 40-100meters of you.

I'd recommend you run ArmA and OA once to the main menu and then get DayZCommander and use that to install and launch DayZ, ArmA patches, and any additional maps/mods you want to play.

http://dayzcommander.com/

The steam app will install DayZ but it uses the ArmA server browser which really isn't designed for it, you will probably find a lot of the servers don't work because they are running different versions/mods/beta patches etc DayZCommander will save you a lot of hassle as those can either be filtered out or just installed from the menu.

1) Sadly no.

2) Not really, but you can use DayZ Commander to install it which makes it very simple

3) No, this means you'll make as a great bandit not having to worry about others.

4) Can't really. but ppl who PVP alot have arab like hoodie over them (no baseball ca

5. Try the server in my sig, it has no OP weapons so you won't get AS50/M107/DMR/SVD snipped at the beginning towns, once you click Multiplayer, click on Remove and Copy and Paste the IP in.
