Slugfoot 73 Posted February 23, 2013 (edited) Don't laugh, these are pretty powerful weapons...I'm thinking along the lines of Quackenbush models:- http://www.quackenbushairguns.com/Features:-*Lead ball ammo that has to be crafted from scrap lead which can be found around old buildings, etc, using equipment such as a musket ball mold, a fire and a crucible to melt it in.*Can be charged directly from an appropriate found stirrup pump or from scuba tanks (which can also be charged (painstakingly) using the pump).*Quiet.Just a thought...Edit - This weapon could feature decreasing perforrmance as the air reservoir is depleted requiring the need to recharge it regularly. enforcer1975 1111 Posted February 23, 2013 (edited) How do these guns store the pressure? I'm sure it's not a multiple shot rifle with like 5 shots in a row ( i read the story about the two shots ). And the distance would be quite limited at an average 50 yards for that rifle in the story to be deadly won't it? Slugfoot 73 Posted February 23, 2013 (edited) They have an air reservoir which allows multiple shots (decreasing in power after each one). Some come with circular clips of ammo and others are hand loaded. They're generally bolt action.I think these things would be potentially lethal to people at waaaay over 100m.Edit - Pre-charge air rifles aren't new. The Austrian army was issued repeating Girandoni air rifles with a 21 round magazine on the side from 1780 to around 1815 and they out-performed just about all firearms of the period.Meriwether Lewis and William Clark are thought to have had one of these weapons with them on the Corps of Discovery expedition in the early 1800's:- http://en.wikipedia....ndoni_Air_Rifle Edited February 23, 2013 by Slugfoot
lipemr 160 Posted February 23, 2013 it's way more easy to add high power BB guns to the game than these air guns that only one company on the entire world make.
Slugfoot 73 Posted February 23, 2013 it's way more easy to add high power BB guns to the game than these air guns that only one company on the entire world make.Is that a joke?.177 or 6mm BB guns would be uselessly underpowered except for hunting rabbits, maybe. There are several manufacturers of large bore pre-charge air rifles. I just picked Quackenbush as an example.

I just picked Quackenbush as an example.did you shoot one large bore pre-charged air rifle in your life?i think 99/100 people didnt, these rifles just doesnt exist out there in quantities that are relevant to be added to the game, this would be just unrealistic.A winchester is way more efficient in every way than these things, and doesnt decay as much over time. There's no point adding these rare shitty rifles to the game, sincerely.it'll be much better to add different caliber lever/bolt action rifles, pistols and revolvers, as it would be more difficult to find ammunition for one specific weapon. If you'll add these things, add .22LR hunting rifles instead, with scope, reduced noise and almost no-existant recoil, doing the same damage as a makarov, and killing in one headshot (with a chance of the bullet stopping on the skull and do normal damage). THIS would add some dynamic to the game. Edited February 23, 2013 by lipemr
enforcer1975 1111 Posted February 23, 2013 (edited) So they are actually overpressured HPA rifles or are they running on CO2?nvm just found it, they are technically HPA rifles that can shoot civil war type lead slugs. Looks like the power is similar... Edited February 23, 2013 by Enforcer
IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted February 24, 2013 I support this, we need a few more civilian guns in this game. And yes there are hunting air rifles (co2 and hand pump I believe, co2 being more convenient) If it were added it'd probably be my choice of weapon when I'm alone, going hunting, or scaving in a city. A silent and deadly weapon none the less, just be sneaking around more with it rather than running around like an idiot with a Lee. And fuck yes I'd use this for hunting. Maybe able to make/craft/smelt ammo from tin cans (like 2 slugs per can?) or scrap metal
