Deer Stands circuits or one long trip to NWAF?

I'll put away my philosophical digressions on dayz nature to discuss about a tactical problem: to get military gear and a bigger backpack (plus morphine/antibiotics as bonus) do you travel to NWAF or visit a few Deer Stands?

I have used to visit NWAF a few times (IMHO Stary is a deathtrap due to Z glitching through the tents), but now I think NWAF is not needed anymore. In the triangle Kamenka-Green Mountain-Balota there are (excluding the stands of Balota) approx. 14 Deer Stands and one does not even need to visit all of them, just cycle around a group of 3-4 a few times to find any kind of medium-tier weapons (AK-74, AK-47, M-16, M-4 in any variant), backpack and ammo. Never seen any sniper rifle: I don't use them, but that's another issue.

It requires some patience, but it pays back. Of course it does not provide the same abundance of NWAF, but it has far less risks either from Zombies or snipers or groups of hostiles, not considering the fact that to reach NWAF, you have to travel in the open for a while (unless one makes a really long detour North-East-South entering NWAF from the North).

What do you do?

Oh well, that's another strategy. I have given this evening blood & antibiotics to a guy in Cherno, but only asked for a couple of cans of pasta in return since I was low on food...

I do think the Kamenka spawn is underrated. Lots of nearby deer stands as you make your way to Zeleno and then onward if you like.

I'd go around deer stands in one long trip, and look for helicrashes at the same time -> all kinds of best weapons, ammo and equipment in the game.

Because, you know, there's not much of a reason to visit NWAF. I used to go there, but there rarely spawns anything nearly as good as stuff at heli crash sites. Then again, they have great dangers on highly populated servers, being at flat plains. I usually run with my worst gun in the north for minimal risk and usually drop it when I find three cooler weapons.

So, deer stand circuits are a good and relatively safe option.

Deer stands are lower-risk but have a moderate chance of getting mid-tier weapons.

NWAF is high-risk on any populated server, and has a low chance (mainly due to others looting it before you) of getting high-tier weapons.

Deer stands are definitely the safer bet assuming you aren't too desperate to get your hands on a spectacular weapon. In all honesty, I've never found much at the NWAF anyway - the odd M16A4 and that's it. All the really sexy weapons are found at crash sites.

I usually don't like it because I like to keep a base up north east between berizino and neaf there is pretty much any thing you could want. So a walk from kamenka is a pain in the ass

Do you spawn often that North? I am asking because so far I have never spawned North of Krutoy Cap, except for one time near the Three Valley area,

I think the Kamenka spawn is a situational one. If you like playing in/around big cities and high traffic areas, it's not great, because it's a long walk to get to that stuff from there. If you're more or a 'barns and stables' kind of player, the Kamenka route is a really good one.

Solichniy (or however you spell it) is as far north as you can however thats not far from berezino plus you can get almost all your basic gear between those two cities

And it seems to be just as often as any other spawn

Kamenka is one of my favorite spawns. I run up and hit the deerstands above it, then the ones near Bor and then I go to Zelenogorsk for supplies.

The only thing lacking from the Kamenka spawn is morphine... usually you can find some on players who are headed North to the airfield.
