metal_fingers 2 Posted February 17, 2013 In real life, birds will go quiet when you're walking through the woods. I would love to see it where there are ambient bird noises which go quiet when you're running / walking / crouch running through the woods. However, if you lay down and wait for a while, the bird noises come back. Thus, if you're laying in the woods and suddenly the bird noises go quiet, there's probably another player moving nearby. FlamingDefibs 421 Posted February 17, 2013 (edited) This has been suggested before. By me, in fact.As a slightly alternate version of this suggestion, how about simply more animal sounds, like Michael suggested?Still a more "alive" feel to DayZ, while maintaining the feel of the apocalypse as soon as you leave the forest.Maybe we should take it up a notch: If Rocket decides to put wild animals/predators in the SA, then maybe as soon as one approaches your campsite in the forest, the chirping of the birds stops? This happens in real life as well. That would be a nice touch as sell as a subtle early warning system (and something more to strike fear into the hearts of noobs, MUAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH). Then we'll talk sparkling wine. Here's a cave-painting, from before before before. What do I win?Aaah! The bird is shitting on his head! Talk about freaking out.You win... Some birdshit. FlashHawk4 44 Posted February 17, 2013 I suggested this too. Before y'all, but after that Mesolithic human. It's a good concept, but I feel like it would take a lot of coding for a small reward. Just saying.
mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted February 18, 2013 I don't think it would take much coding at all TBH.DayZ already has detection levels based on how much your profile stands out in certain terrain and how quickly you're moving. This idea would basically consist of reworking that concept to fit bird noises in forested areas.I might be totally wrong, but it seems like a lot of the required programming is already present. Ohly 26 Posted February 18, 2013 (edited) i agree for the chernarus map but did anyone of you played on Ligor island?this map is tropical!i can say that this is a good idea you had, and in real life it does work the same buti've been in peru close to the amazonia, the forest there was tropical and while walking in the forest with a couple of guys, yeah the bird that was close to us goes quiet, but we were still able to hear those that were a further...so your idea may be applied, but only on those map where there is a lot less birds so you cant hear the others because they are too far Edited February 18, 2013 by Ohly
