random spawn items

Recommended Posts

personally I would like to see random spawn items

so a bandage for everyone

painkillers or a can food or drink

A flashlight or map or compass or hunting knife or matches

or

a gun ether a makarov or revolver with 3 mags

but if you get a gun you get NOTHING else not even a bandage

this would mean that you never know how you are going to start

this would break up the routine of spawning meaning you may have to run on a hospital first or you nee a flashlight/flairs at night

Personally, I'm in the 'not spawning with anything, even a backpack' camp.

Oh, look, I've just been washed up on some random shore, good thing I've got my handy bandage, painkillers and torch in my pockets (like I always carry), and my empty backpack that I carry EVERYWHERE.

Perhaps a bit much, but you get the idea.

I think you should spawn with something I always have a lighter with me

I know lots of people who have a knife (live on boats ect where a knife is a basic piece of safety equipment)

I often have painkillers of some type on me

I use to have a torch on me most of the time until it broke (it was a little led one not the full sized one in-game)

but what i have on me differs from day to day depending on what i am doing my idea would be more accurate to real life

I'd rather be empty handed at spawn, It encourages you to go scavenging, and removes the safety net that everyone has gotten used to.

If people spawned with random stuff, folk would cruise up and down the coast killing n00bs just to see what they've got.

Fuckers already kill beachlanders unprovoked, I'd rather not give them a reason to do it.

That's a pretty solid point right there. It's a nice idea, and there have been far worse and less thought-out ideas suggested, but if anything, it would probably make the poor newb's life even harder for the reasons Chabowski gave.

to be fair I did not think of that I figured that there would be newb on newb eg i have a gun and nothing else but i need medi supply's so i'll shoot you

but it would course Bambie hunting to have a purpose rather than greefing

I would still like to see something to stop the

1 get an axe

2 get some food and drink

3 get a gun

4 get medi supply's

5 get a military gun

routine that i have got in to, I would love to have to mix it up sometimes

We have been experimenting with some novel approaches such as not having loot spawned at the server level, but having it spawned at the database level - therefore negating the ease with which loot tables could be produced and allowing us to conduct a form of economic regulation to item spawns dynamically. I think the end result, however, will be a mixture of the two approaches due to performance requirements.
From the latest devblog.

I'm not entirely certain of what that's going to mean for us in-game. But I'd guess it'd lead to less predictable spawns, and less ability to loot-farm.

My spidey-sense tells me "Go to Balota, get an AR" isn't going to be quite so straightforward in SA.

At the very least it's going to mean more exploration/scavenging will be required. Extending our adventure by quite a bit, I'd imagine.

you are right

the fact is most of what we are talking about will probably be completely obsolete in the SA

by the sounds of what i am hearing from the team we will probably not even going to have a tac vest when we start and maybe no back pack

just the pockets in you're jeans 2/4 pockets with space for 2 small items in each

I'd prefer no backpack, and maybe something that is often carried by civilians, like a watch.

which leads me to...specialized/unique loot

Totally empty handed spawn would be Bad i guess. You should allways spawn with a Bandage, otherwise it will get to frustrating for New Players

I'd like to see just spawning with a bandage. The rest is worth scavenging for. Anything else is a big too advantagous for my taste.

Once you die 3 or 4 times you get used to how day Z is played anyway, it's not meant to be easy, that's the appeal, it's more realistic.

That said, I'm not always so hot on beach spawning, I think it ruins story emersion. I'd like to see house/hospital spawns more.

Well in my opinion, everything should be found. It'd give the first wee while, when there's nothing to lose but your life, more impact.

Frustration and difficulty don't strike me as reasons to not do it properly.

If there were first aid boxes in houses/offices/schools/firestations/restaurants/shops/garages like there ought to be, bandages wouldn't be hard to find at all. (not that they are currently anyway)

EDIT:

That depends more on the loot-spawn balance in SA, which we're not privy to yet.

You can't necessarily guarantee whether or not you'll need your spawn-bandage before you find another one. But if you spawn without one, you can say for certain "I need to find bandages FAST!"

Why do people require a watch in game anyway (its great for immersion and such, but not my priority)? You know the server you are joining and can get the time on the server. Use your real life watch or draw a watch in order to find north.

With regards to spawning, it would depend on the back story of how you ended up on the beach, but I would prefer not spawning with anything with wet clothes and slightly reduced temperature and endurance (slight hunger).
