Suggestion: Very dim or complete dark rooms

Recommended Posts

I'd like to see darker spots in buildings added to DayZ. I'm not talking about little corners but rooms where there is low visibility or being pitch black even in the middle of the day.

This room could be a basement where it is very dark and a player would have to use their flashlight in order to properly navigate through old furniture or shelves. Maybe even small houses that have had its windows boarded up to keep Zeds away will block sunlight and leave the building very dim. If this could be implemented then maybe larger buildings like hotels could have the same effect naturally in the hallway especially if people decide to close all the doors of the rooms.

Hopefully giving players a little more suspense when looting :)

i like this idea would be nice to have it so that when you exit these rooms into sunlight it takes time for your eyes to adjust. (that might already be in not sure, its hard to notice details sometimes)

I like the idea aswell as snow blindness added by old Herby here.

Beeing blinded for some times is already happening, i played wasteland 2 days ago and at a certain time there is really really dense fog on the server...it hurt my eyes and was really blinding.

With that said you would have a lot of players complaining that it's too dark inside and of course you need to remove the torch from the toolbelt so players have to have one in order to enter a darkened building in a safe manner.

With that, the decision to enter a darkened area or not would carry more weight, adding to the "do I REALLY need to go in there?" moments.

Added tension and uncertainty are always welcome IMO.

EDIT:

Folk can complain all they want. It'd only mean the addition created an uncomfortable situation, thus serving its purpose.
