How Optimized will the Standalone actually be?

Recommended Posts

i have a 3750k and a 670 and i still maintain playable fps (40+) at 1440p (2560x1440).

40fps isn't much to be proud of with a $1200-$1500 system. But you're an example of how it varies from player to player. I have a bunch of friends with the typical i5 3570k, GTX 670 system, and they maintain 60-80fps, even when in cities.

And then there's people like me with a GTX 680 who struggle to get 30 FPS in cities... without even maxing out.

That sucks man. Have you tried some of the tricks in this: http://pastebin.com/F7Q8Ne2i

Unless you're that guy that is running 3 monitors off the 1 680, which is foolish.

I have a gtx680, i7 3.2, six core and can only achieve 60fps!!!

It does suck but it's not like it makes the game unplayable!!!!

Before tweaking the settings I used to get 30fps and it still ran fine.

Rocket stated that FPS probably won't improve that much, meaning whatever you currently get on DayZ (depends if the server is causing lag) is roughly what you will get on the standalone. It will just be a much smoother experience.

I hope you're being sarcastic.

I've got a brand new, two-week old system with an i7-3770 @3.4ghz and a GTX 670, and I've only noticed very occasional stuttering and jumpiness, but it seems to be more or less at random rather than in specific locations. Strange, but I'd expect the SA to be much more stable, not to mention prettier.

Here's the thing about performance in Dayz..

Dayz is a CPU hog more than a GPU hog. If you are in dire need of an upgrade, start with the CPU/mobo and continue from there. The AMD FX-8350 is a fantastic processor for the money you spend. I went from an athlon x-2 4200+ which was giving me 25fps in the woods and about 15 in the cities to a consistent 60fps in the woods and 45fps in the cities while recording with fraps.

That upgrade alone was enough to allow me to max my quality settings while getting great fps. Also cured 99% of the freezing and lock ups.

Next was the GPU. I went from a Radeon X1650 to a nVidia GTX 660ti which added another 15fps. Up from there don't expect to see much more performance improvement.

Last but not least, SSD. With the super high transfer rates loading into a map is incredibly fast.

Best bet, go down to your local computer hardware retailer and ask about package deals or whatever specials they have. If you wait and do your research you could save hundreds of dollars. Also if you build the PC yourself you can save some more.

Hope this helps.

Yeah the AMD 8350 runs this game like a champ......and I haven't even OC it cause I don't need to. I also got a GTX 670 and coming from my old computer it's like night and day. I haven't seen my FPS drop below 45 so I'm good with it.

Nope, just one at 1680x1050.

Nice, what CPU you got?

Intel Core i5-2500K, next time I upgrade it'll be to a i7-3970k. But the Graphics Card isn't the most important piece of hardware required for DayZ, as the Arma 2 engine is super CPU intensive.
