osiriszoran 33 Posted June 18, 2012 So you try to kill someone with a DMR from far away and complain' date=' that you get shot without a fight?[/quote']I'm complaining that I spent 6 days waiting for action, and I got shot in the back. I lost everything, and didn't get to experience anything fun.Not because it was a sniper. It really needs a second chance option, so I can go back and try to recover some items. I really want to just enjoy this game because I know how awesome it can be, but this has just punched right in the nut sack and I don't feel like I can start over.my heart bleeds for you. really it does. btw every other game where you dont lost your stuff is - > that way. FFRyan 0 Posted June 18, 2012 I spent 2 weeks on a character and never saw any players but was really hoping for a fight or a last stand situation, but I never got that opportunity. I walked onto a rock without knowing the dangers of them and died instantly. I'd say that is less anti climactic than yours was, although a bit funny. Just try not to dwell on it too much and hope for a better outcome in the future. GLHF
Virfortis 111 Posted June 18, 2012 We had a DC fix for a grand total of a few hours...But then players were able to duplicate everything, so they abused that to get DCing back. (A lesser of two evils thing)Now if someone comes after me, they DC the second they're hit.To the OP: Nut up or shut up, quite literally. I lost a fully killed, NVG and all character because the idiot driving our truck started the engine and ran me over. I'm certainly not here whining about that. This is a game where when you lose, it's gone, and you approach the new life as if you never had anything before. It's a chronic system of starting over because there is no end game, just seeing how long you survive.By the time DayZ is done, you'll need to be some kind of prophesied chosen one to raid NW Airfield and obtain the holy DMR. And it won't be because all the bandits have NVGs and can camp there for weeks.*wishful thinking*
Andrej Dudev 50 Posted June 18, 2012 I think this game has a major flaw in that it's become so intense that when it's over it's too much to start again.I've just spent 6 days alive with my friend' date=' we'd been everywhere, I had a DMR with 5 magazine which I was so happy about, for 4 days I had waited for action, just hoping that I could be in a position to spot a survivor and possibly get into a interesting situation, but nothing really arose. The only situation that did arise was when we saw a survivor on the airfield, we watched him as he went building to building, until finally we had a shot on him. He jumped into a bush and we knew we had him, it was a flat field and he had nowhere to go. he had to come out from the behind the bush at something point. Well nope he just quit.Anticlimactic right? Well that was the entire experience, today the 6th day, nothing had happened, we'd been up north, down the east coast, south coast everywhere. I finally get to a lake just outside a town and we decide to refill our bottles, I walk up the hill to get in the tree line and I'm shot in the back, I'm dead. 6 days of hard work, hoping for some great memorable moments, just shot down in a instant. It was a shit dead, not even a fire fight.. completely anticlimactic and boring. Now I just don't want to play again.. it was too much work for nothing.TLDR Spent 6 days on the game, nothing happened, anticlimactic death, don't want to play again.Anyway, my point behind all this, is why not add a second chance? just one chance to spawn maybe within a 5 mile radius of your death to recover your stuff?[/quote']I understand your feelings BUT now, tell me, you wanted to snipe someone with no real reason because the DMR was rusting and you were bored then, suddenly, he jumped inside a brush and the logged out (that's called "server hopping to farm places").Then, you got shot in the back from some sniper in the middle of nowhere and NOW you are whining because you lost everything?Man, you are arguing about a thing happened to you that YOU wanted to do to another survivor?Really, you deserve your death and I hope your loot is now shared between bunnies and other fauna in the map. nogert@gmail.com 11 Posted June 18, 2012 Can I just clarify, people are saying that I was going to kill someone with a sniper so I'm a hypocrit. My argument is not that this was a cheap kill and wasn't fair, this isn't my frustration at all, my frustration is that I just lost everything, it would be nice to have the chance to get my stuff back.Once again I really have no problem with the dying part, it's the unforgiving nature of the death and restart that is my problem. And this was just made all the more worse considering over the 6 day span I had nothing but absolute bull shit disconnecting people every time it got interesting. Savagepengu 13 Posted June 18, 2012 I spent about the same amount of time on a character only to have him get bugged and have to restart when 1.7.1.1 patch came out, but honestly I don't care. Half the fun is getting there. The sooner you accept that your life can end at any point and each new life is a new story, that is when you start having fun. Period. If you wanted your stuff back you could've booked it back to wherever you died in the very off chance that some of your loot didn't de-spawn. Otherwise, what you're complaining about is a core element of the game, perma-death. I really fail to see the problem.

But the nature of the game is what makes it unique and interesting. My advice - give it a couple days, and don't give feedback on the game until your not so bitter about the whole thing. It isn't going to change. The only difference between you and the guy who shot you in the back is the fact that he was a good enough shot to make the first one count. nogert@gmail.com 11 Posted June 18, 2012 As I've said before, I was not annoyed by the fact I was killed by a sniper rifle, I understand that this is a part of the game, I love sniping too, it's more the fact that I had some pretty rare items that I never got to use, and I didn't have the opportunity to get back. kilozombie 1 Posted June 18, 2012 You're a hypocrite as shit, even though you argue that you're not. That guy in the airfield? He could have had an M4A3 CCO SD or some shit, DMR in his coyote backpack, inventory half-full of nades and half-full of STANAG mags, a PDW with 8 mags and one in the gun, NVG and rangefinders, two trucks stored in the back surrounded by tentsAnd you think it's okay to shoot him because he's not you? You lost a gun, buh buh. He would have lost a gun too, dickwad.Would you have given HIM a second chance? No dice, because you're a moron.

s0ulassassin 11 Posted June 18, 2012 I find it hilarious that you spent 6 days trying to hunt down other people and couldn't find anyone and yet the last moment you get shot in the back. Guess it's only fun if you get to do the killing but the game sucks and you don't wanna play anymore when someone hunted you down and then shot you in the back :P
KoukenNZ 6 Posted June 18, 2012 been alive for 19days atm, when (not if, WHEN) i die next, ill simply start again, if you cant help getting attached to your character, and you find the only satisfaction of this game is loot, this game isnt for you

I'm annoyed at that, there should be a chance to go back and get some items.been alive for 19days atm' date=' when (not if, WHEN) i die next, ill simply start again, if you cant help getting attached to your character, and you find the only satisfaction of this game is loot, this game isnt for you[/quote']Highly unlikely considering the top ranked player is at 115 hour or something.Loot is a part of the game, hence the rarity of items, if loot meant nothing then why not just start with m4's.Of course you get attached to your loot etc, you spent time and effort getting it. You don't spend a day raiding a dungeon on wow only to have every item you've got dissapear at death.I'm content with the system now, but I'd really like a second chance feature, or at least some sort of item quality mechanic in which when you die, you keep your weapons but without the ammo and it becomes damaged, after 2 deaths with it, it breaks and it's gone. Does noone agree with that?

drayson 158 Posted June 18, 2012 Dying doesn't bother me much. I play super careful but if I get shot I shrug and start new. The game is about survival, it's about the journey not the end. The end in this game is just starting the journey over again.
